I'm seen NUMEROUS posts from Rangers fans gloating that we somehow got Trouba and Lemiuex for a Kevin Hayes rental... That's not the actual context of what happened and I'm trying to figure out why so many people struggle to wrap their minds around this...

Trouba is not under a 1 year contract. He is an RFA.

You could look at this as Hayes for Lemieux and 20th then Trouba for 20th and Pionk. Or you could look at it as Hayes and Pionk for Lemieux and Trouba. There is no logical way to look at this as Hayes, Pionk and 20th for Lemieux and Trouba. Its not rose-colored glasses. They traded the pick to us and we gave it back. Its a net neutral, not a minus.

We dont have the 20th to lose without Hayes.

Net loss to the Rangers was Hayes and Pionk for Trouba and Lemieux.

That is the NET loss to the Rangers. Nothing more.

That's just the problem, it shouldn't be omitted because at the time of the trade, that pick was our property and our asset... Where it came from means nothing... Had we traded Hayes to another team in the league and got their 1st rounder - then traded that first rounder for Trouba from the Jets, are we going to omit that 1st rounder when discussing the price/cost of acquiring Trouba? Of course not...

A few months ago Kaliyev followed me on IG (maybe because we both have Uzbek ties) and I jokingly DM’d him to purposely fail every interview except NYR’s to fall to us. Maybe he listened?

No one else made any trades either and there was a crap ton more players available than just Ranger guys, players that are better than any of Kreider or Buch available, and plenty of players actively being shopped and trying to be sold, yet nothin. And some of y’all are being pissy little babies lol

Me? No, I was just commenting that only thing I was unsure of with Tomasino was the hands fully translating.

That’s why I was really confused and kind of lost.
