I wonder whether getting good returns for rentals has influenced JG's hesitancy to deal guys right away. We won't be blocking too much youth development by keeping Strome, Namestnikov, and Vesey in bottom 6 roles, and they could potentially get more at the deadline what with the salary cap situation than they would return right now.

IMO they won’t block anyone and if we deal guys we’d probably replace them with ufas on short term deals. We don’t have that many young forwards that are nhl ready

Maybe your right but that's 7 for 1 and I'm sure that every teams scouting department believes that they can find the hidden gem. Remember the Ricky Williams NFL trade and everyone believed that New Orleans paid way too much

Please see above. You cannot compare the NHL draft to the NFL draft. It's apples to oranges.

And I don't care if it's 1000 to 1. If you're giving a bunch of meh stuff for a top prospect/player, the team is always going to say no.

This is really one of the more crazy proposals I've read on these boards.

So when might the Rangers 2019 prospect development camp be? Where we could see Kakko and Aaltonen, among others.

Not for long.

People need to take a closer look at our cap situation. Panarin or no Panarin, he has to go.
Disagree. He may not be the one going. Let me rephrase, I think that two forwards are going. There is a logjam. But Krieder need not be one of the ones that is going. There are other combinations (Vesey, Names, etc.) that could go. A first line of CK, ZBad & Buch may be just right to take the pressure off the kids.

Obviously with KK, the draft as a whole is an A... from rounds 2-7, I'd give it a solid B. As someone mentioned earlier, the guys that we took today are unlike most of what we currently have in our prospect pool. Certainly a good variety of size, speed, and depth to add to the cupboard. Overall, I'm happy with it.

Would you trade kakko for 7 picks between the 2nd and 7th round?

Wasn't really a proposal but you seem very sure about being right. There certainly hasn't been any type of similar trade scenarios in the nhl. I would include something more just so it doesn't appear to be one of the most crazy proposals on the board though. I do believe zegras will me an outstanding nhl player.

You are completely missing the point. You realize that other teams don’t exist just to give us the players that you want? No one is questioning how good Zegras is, why would the other team do that?

If you aren't extending him (which it sounds like they aren't, and they really shouldn't unless they get him at a reduced price) then theres no reason to hold onto him.

Vesey is toast but Namesnikov at the very least isn't someone whose value is going to skyrocket or fall by keeping him. Strome, Names, Fast - Those guys are fine to hold on to until the deadline (None of them are going to bring back a ton and we need bodies.)

Vesey and Kreider kind of need to go now. I expect them both to be moved this week or shortly after July 1.

How many years are the Panthers going to give Bob at a high price tag? They just drafted Knight high and it sounds like it shouldn't take 7 years for him to be ready.
