You know in all my years being a fan of this god forsaken cursed franchise, this just might be the quickest a season has ever gone down the tubes.

The only one that comes close top of my head is '99 when the Jets were absolutely loaded with talent coming into the season and we were legit SB contenders. In fact I believe Vegas had us as the favorite to win the SB heading into the season which right there should have been the first clue it wasn't going to happen.

Jets were coming into the season fresh off a loss in the AFC championship game to the Broncos the year before but it just seemed like it was our time. We had the best coach we had ever had in Parcells. We had Curtis Martin toting the rock...Keyshawn, Chrebet were catching balls from Vinny T and we had a nasty ass defense. We wre primed to rock n roll.

1st game of the year at home vs Patriots I'm at Giants Stadium going nuts with 77,000 other brothers and sisters of mine and than on first or maybe it was 2nd play of the game Testerverde fades back and than all of a sudden untouched falls to ground grabbing at his Achllies and that was that for that season. No SB...no playoffs...no nothing. We ended up going 8-8 that year but we started I believe 1-7...we were terrible. We had no QB until Parcells turns to Ray Lucas and he went on some sick tear and we won like 6-7 in a row to to end up .500.

But what could have been had Vinny not gotten hurt? We would have won the SB that year....no doubt in my mind. Now this year's team isn't as good obviously as that '99 team but this year has ended just as fast if not faster.

Oh well...the plight of a Jet fan....fun fun fun

All Jet fans need to view this. I advise you to watch the full 8 minute video seeing it pretty much is exactly how Jet Nation feels today with this Darnold news.

But if you want to simply go to the place in the video as to the reason why Sam might have mono skip to the 7.03 mark. I think I'm with Eisen on this one...lol

Rooting for the Jets is like rooting for the Mets. They both are like the mafia, everytime you try to get out and they are done and seasons over and they both suck somehow they both suck you back in.

After getting over the shock of Darnold's prognosis of having mono and he was going to be out for the next month most likely, I was thinking about it and as depressed as I am about the prospects for the Jets going forward this year and this whole "same ole Jets" shit going on in my head and the fact any prospects for being in the playoff conversation are obviously gone, I actually think there is a punchers chance that we can beat the Browns on Monday night....hear me out.

Trevor Siemian does have experience winning football games as he's not some wet behind the ears rookie playing QB. So long as LBell is playing, we do have enough weaponry to give the Browns something to think about while we are on offense.

The Browns despite how much talent they have "on paper" sucked bigtime last week and so maybe they aren't as good as they are supposed to be. There will be alot of pressure on them to win this week being a touchdown favorite and so with us playing at home maybe just maybe we can pull a "Lazarus" like the Mets have done a bunch of times the past month and rise from the dead, show some pride and heart and pull out an upset W on Monday.

I know I'm probably in lala land in this thinking but I do believe there is still enough talent on the team to pull this off. If we don't, we are looking at a 4-12...5-11 type season and I have enough faith that we have enough pride and talent that we can't be that bad even with no Sam.

One caveat, I have had 4 Tito's vodka and tonics before I composed this post not that it should matter...lol

At least I'm a Yankees fan. Goodness gracious if I was also a Mets fan, lol

I hear ya that being a Yankee fan has it's benefits but I will say as a Met fan tho they give me a bunch of agida, this team of ours has shown alot of resilience and pride as there have been a bunch of times we could have mailed it in and given up, this team has shown alot of fight haven't given up and we are still in mix for a WC spot.

Not sure obviously how it will shake out but this Met team has a very nice core, a hell of solid pitching staff and the future looks bright despite some warts they have.

Bottom line, it's not so bad being a Met fan as one would think despite how much they drive me and my Mets brothers and sisters nuts!...lol

dolphins are allowing minkah fitzpatrick to seek a trade. giants should be at least asking the dolphins what it will take. try to take advantage of the absolute shitshow that miami is right now.

Yup he lied and he’s a bit of a douche....no question. He’s our douche now and so long as he calls the right defenses and players play hard for him, I could give two shits what Williams did in the past.

What he does now is really all any of us here in Jet Nation should be concerned with.

So? Sanchez went the AFC championship his 1st 2 years in the league. Darnold is already better than he ever was.

Not sure we can say that just yet. Sure Sam has shown signs that he's going to be a solid QB and his upside is thru the roof. He for sure looks like the guy the Jets have been looking for for decades. But he only really showed it the final 4 games of last year when the team was playing out the string and in the Lion game last year after he started his pro career with a pick 6...remember that? lol

Do I think Darnold will end up being better than Sanchez? Absolutely. But we can't say he is better than Sanchez was his rookie year or the 2nd year of Sanchez's tenor as a Jet. I think after Sam comes back from his mono and plays 10 games or so, we'll all have a much better indicator as to where Darnold.

Siemien has a better W/L record than Darnold.

He does have a better w/l record and has played more than Sam as well. I said it a few times here, I think Siemian will be very servicable as a backup. He knows the Gase offense very well, he's competent and he has shown he can win games. For a backup in the NFL, there really aren't that many better.

I think we are going to pull off the upset Monday and Siemian is going to be a big reason why.

Sanchez was bad in his first two years too. Just had a winner reputation for some reason built on the back of an elite defense and some late comebacks

I dunno if Sanchez was bad as in terribad. He wasn't elite by any means and he definitely didn't exhibit the upside that a Darnold does. But he was a pretty good game manager for his first three years as a Jet. He for most part made the plays he needed to make. And yes like you said, those teams were clearly successful due to the defense and the running game and Sanchez rarely was required to put the team on his back which definitely helped.

For some reason tho, the best football of his life was in playoff games on the road vs Hall of Fame QB's. His playoff QB rating is 94.3 versus 73.3 in the regular season...that's bizzaro world....lol.

I mean it's one of the most bizarre things you'll ever see about Sanchez but in the end like you said, he did end up being pretty bad.

For some bizarre reason (I live in Manhattan) my TV Grids for both Spectrum and DirectV have the Patriots-Dolphins game on CBS (channel 2) at 1PM instead of the Giants-Bills. I checked the CBS-New York schedule and they still have Giants-Bills.
