Funny, I'm obviously older than you are but if I think about it, I really haven't seen all that many more successful seasons than you have. I was unfortunatly too young to recall watching the Jets SB win, so if we just used 1970 to current day,the Jet's really haven't had alot of good years.
Pretty much the entire '70's Jets either stunk something fierce or they'd tease us and give us a .500 season a few times giving us some hope which never was answered. No playoff appearances this decade.
In the '80's Jets made playoffs 4 times '81 and '82(losing AFC title game vs Miami)...'85 and '86. Jets had some pretty damn good teams this decade but never could get over hump. I was sophomore in college in '82 and I really thought we were winning SB that year...ugggggg
Than in 90's we make the playoffs 2 times. In '91 under Bruce Coslett as we make playoffs and we get the boot early by Houston. And than of course in '98 under Parcells along with Curtis Martin we go to AFC title game and one again lose.Once again I thought this was the year....WRONG!!
The 2000's though resulted in Jets having their most sustained winning in their history. I believe we made playoffs in '01 '02,'04,06, '09, '10. with Jets going to two more AFC titles game where we lost of course.
So according to my stats...that's 0 SB's....3 AFC title games and 12 playoff appearances in the last 50 years for the Jets which makes for a scintillating 24% success rate as far as playoff appearances goes.
That my friends is how you spell success....lol
