And we Rangers fans sometimes like to complain that our team is "cursed". Being also a Jets fan gives you some perspective. Week 2 and season's already over.

Mets, Jets, Knicks and Rangers, baby.

In all serious, Enunwa's playing days may be over. Second neck injury in two years.

This GIF is awesome. Yup it don't get any more cursed that that. God bless my Pops...luv him to death but I always wonder sometimes how things could have been quite a bit different for me. For instance had he not gotten this big man crush for Joe Namath, I likely would have been a Giant fan. Had he not taken me to Shea Stadium so much to watch the Mets and force me to become a Met fan, who knows maybe I would have fallen for the Reggie Jackson Thurman Munson Yankees.

Had my Dad not taken me to MSG in the early 70's to Knicks and Rangers games and Walt Frazier and Steve Vickers not become my favorite athletes in the entire world maybe I'd have not become a fan of those teams. So yeah, I blame my father for all the agida over the years.

You know what...despite the pain, I wouldn't change a damn thing....

Agreed. You'd have to think this is probably it for Enunwa. Shame, since he had talent when he was actually healthy.
He's the best WR the Jets drafted since Santana Moss (which doesn't say much considering how bad the Jet WR corps is). Of course that isn't surprising with the jets drafting a total of 15 WRs in the 18 drafts after Moss.

You know...your probably right. That really is sad. I think I mentioned this the other day, of the 36 draft picks Mike Mac made in his 4 year tenor as GM, only 13 remain.

So he had 5 drafts he orchestrated and if we discount the #1's that fell into his lap where he had no choice but to take them like Quinnen, Sam, Adams and LWilliams that means he whiffed on over 65% of his picks. And we want to know why we have such issues with the O-line, edge rusher and CB? All we need to do is look at these past 5 drafts where these areas were totally ignored for the most part.

Anyways, it sux about Enunwa. He is as cursed as this franchise is. Hopefully he recovers.

Not only did we only draft 15 WRs in 18 drafts, the highest picks were 2 2nd round busts (Devin Smith and Stephen Hill) and a 3rd rounder (ArDarius Stewart) who played for 1 season before being released and then never played another NFL game.

Yeah man...it’s simply an abomination the way this team has drafted over the years after the 1st round. Funny but the one time a #1 pick didn’t just fall into MM’s lap and he actually needed to show some eval skills...you know the reason he was hired due to his vaunted college player evaluation skills, in MM’s infinite wisdom we picked Daron Lee and we all know how that went.

I mean you can’t make any of this shit up. It’s just been disaster after disaster...disappointment after disappointment for 50 years now and now this year after just 1 game, the team has already lost a game that 99% of the teams in NFL history have won when they have a +4 TO differential...we already have our QB whisperer HC on the hot seat for his play calling...our best defender is hurt as is our vaunted rookie d lineman.

Oh and we have no kicker and if we lose Monday say hello to another 5-11 type season. I feel like I’m repeating myself and that’s because I am...this team just like the Mets and they both drive me insane. I’m starting to sound like a Joe Beningo....I gotta stop as god forbid I get that cynical and that there is no hope.

I know we got the right guy in Douglass...if he somehow doesn’t work out...I will give up football and just do fantasy....lol

Just went to get my haircut and was talking to my barber, making small talk, asked him if he was a football fan. He immediately said "NO. I used to be a Jets fan though, which should explain why." And I said, "Man, I wish I could say the same thing."

I wish football wasn't such an awesome sport because being a Jets fan and just the whole NFL and the way it operates with the flags, the commercials, and the Patriots winning every year should be enough to turn someone off of watching for good.

This.

It just feels like the Jets can almost never do anything right. Probably the only seasons since I've been alive and could understand that the Jets have been successful were 2009 and 2010.

Funny, I'm obviously older than you are but if I think about it, I really haven't seen all that many more successful seasons than you have. I was unfortunatly too young to recall watching the Jets SB win, so if we just used 1970 to current day,the Jet's really haven't had alot of good years.

Pretty much the entire '70's Jets either stunk something fierce or they'd tease us and give us a .500 season a few times giving us some hope which never was answered. No playoff appearances this decade.

In the '80's Jets made playoffs 4 times '81 and '82(losing AFC title game vs Miami)...'85 and '86. Jets had some pretty damn good teams this decade but never could get over hump. I was sophomore in college in '82 and I really thought we were winning SB that year...ugggggg

Than in 90's we make the playoffs 2 times. In '91 under Bruce Coslett as we make playoffs and we get the boot early by Houston. And than of course in '98 under Parcells along with Curtis Martin we go to AFC title game and one again lose.Once again I thought this was the year....WRONG!!

The 2000's though resulted in Jets having their most sustained winning in their history. I believe we made playoffs in '01 '02,'04,06, '09, '10. with Jets going to two more AFC titles game where we lost of course.

So according to my stats...that's 0 SB's....3 AFC title games and 12 playoff appearances in the last 50 years for the Jets which makes for a scintillating 24% success rate as far as playoff appearances goes.

That my friends is how you spell success....lol

How much is this drafting vs development and scheme? I feel like, except for a few truly transcendent talents, the NFL is all about coaching and scheme. Players that failed as Jets wouldn’t have failed under Belichik or Andy Reid.

Take a look at how many players the Jets have drafted recently that are out of the league. I saw a twitter post, would take me forever to find it, where the Jets have the least amount of drafted players on their team, and left in the league. They have been f***ing awful in the draft, the worst really.

I did the research and posted it a few posts ago. In MM's 5 drafts, 34 picks were made...just 16 remain on the roster. And it looks like our 3rd round pick last Nate Sheperd who just got busted for PEDS and is suspended very likely won't be on the roster for much longer.

I don't have the full data but it would certainly be interested in seeing it if anyone has it but I'd guess the Jets drafting not only over the past 5 years has to be bottom 5 in the league, I'd also have to believe that the Jets drafts over their history has to be one of the all time worst.

I dunno man...we are just a cursed franchise. I do have alot of hope tho and I've said it a bunch. I really believe this Joe Douglass is the right guy to lead this team out of the abyss. You just watch how different our drafts are going to be going forward. We will see offensive tackles taken in the first round if they are good enough. We will see CB's taken in the 2nd round if they are the pick to make.

Douglass will address team needs in UFA alot differently than MM did and won't just be tossing 80 mill at above average CB's like Tru Johnson. But it's going to take him a year to get it done and clean up the mess MM left him and so by this time next year, I think the feeling around these parts will be alot different and there won't be as much negativity.

I agree, Douglas just seems to have a different vibe around him. He needs to be better in the draft, Mac's "strength" has handcuffed any depth this team could have.

Jets lost the AFC championship game in 1998 also.

I can’t take this anymore. Do we need anymore evidence that this franchise isn’t cursed. Its absolutely incredible how every year how things go totally off the rails for this jinxed team of ours. And this year, the football gods aren’t even going to tease us, they are f***ing us but good nice and early in the year.

Thank god the Rangers start soon....arrggg....:help:
