OT: 2019 Football Thread: Part II – Free Agency and The Draft

That game was wild last night. The ending was incredible.

Last night’s Saints-Texan game was off the charts it was that good a game.

I’ll go one step further and say that last nights game might be in my top 3 Monday nite games I’ve ever seen in my lifetime and that almost 5 decades....it was an amazing game for sure.

The only 2 top of my head that were better than last night were:

-Jets vs Dolphins back in 2000 when Jets came back from 30-7 deficit in 4th quarter to win 40-37. That game was amazing cause Testeverde had been so horrible for 3 quarters, it kind of came from nowhere...the comeback that is. Vinnie got scorching foot and the Fish couldn’t stop the Jets anymore.

-Colts vs Bucs in Tampa back in 2003. Peyton leads Colts back from 35-21 deficit with like 5 minutes left in game to win 38-35 in OT. I recall this game vividly cause I had Peyton and Marvin Harrison on my fantasy team and I was down to my opponent by over 60 points before the comeback started.

When game was over I had won by two points cause Manning and Harrison combined for over 60 fantasy points combined in those 5 minutes...it was incredible. To this day one of the most exciting moments I have ever had in fantasy.

Fantasy owners know the deal when it comes to a players worth. Thomas has gone from a 6th round pick in 2017.....10th round pick in 2018 to not even drafted this year.

Thomas is pretty much toast IMO and the fall from stud to where he is now was pretty quick.

Unless Enunwa is hurt which he isn't thankfully, I don't see where Gase is going to use Thomas seeing as this point in his career, Thomas does what Enunwa does. I dunno, I guess you give him a look but like someone said if hoodie dealt him to us of all teams fully knowing we are playing them twice in the next 6 weeks, you have to believe Thomas is toast as I said.

I'm more interested if this new kicker we signed will be competent or not.

Changing kickers this often makes no sense. You learn almost nothing from how a guy performs in a game or two. Pick a guy and stick with him for a while. Cutting a guy to sign some other (random off the street scrub) just makes you think you're doing things by being active. If they thought Vedvik was the best guy (which they obviously did given they chose him first over everyone else) then he should have been the guy long term.

I'm reading the full complaint by the woman who is accusing AB of these sexual assault charges. Seems legit to me. Very detailed...very salacioius and very graphic. Can't imagine this is made up. She has text messages with proof and she passed a lie detector.

I dunno, I think AB is f***ed. Can't imagine hoodie allowing this distraction to remain on the team no matter how good AB is. Patriots look like they are going to the SB anyways withought him. They don't even need him. I'm betting he'll be released no later than end of the week and as early as tomorrow.

AB's actions the past year so and coming to a head the past few months I believe has to be related to some sort of CTE syndrome. I also heard he might be bipolar. they'll do their usual. Play the victim. 'This is a civil case not criminal so AB can't be suspended based on this' kinda thing. Anything Goodell does will be seen as an attack on the PATRIOT WAY. I mean Tom Brady text a bunch of equipment guys in the org HEY MAN - DEFLATE THAT BALL FOR ME LIKE LAST TIME - and years later they've warped it into them being the victims of a league wide conspiracy.

I'll never take a thing away from their success because it's impossible to argue with it, but it's a scumbag organization top to bottom.

You know whoever this Maxie guy is, he must have some inside man at 1 Jet Drive giving him his information...uncanny simply uncanny....lol

In all seriousness, now the Thomas deal makes alot more sense as the Jets obviously must have known the prognosis for Enunwa wasn't good and so why not give DT a shot as Thomas can now take the Enunwa role.

Do I still think he doesn't have alot left? I don't. Is he an OK replacement? Well considering the alternatives, he'll have to be.

Kind of amazing but not surprising as this is the Jets how all this optimism and feel good vibes coming out of camp and readily apparent for the Bills game has now turned into worry, at least for me it is, that this season is about to go sideways.

This is exactly why I said a few times last week that they absolutely had to have the Bill game and that it was a must game. So now we are dealing with injuries to key players(Quinnen, Mosley and now Enunwa), our kicking game couldn't be any worse and is in shambles and has been for months and oh yeah, the upcoming schedule is so brutal as to point the very real possibility exists that if they don't beat Cleveland on Monday nite that we could start the season 0-5!!

Let that sink in. I wasn't expecting playoffs and said so numerous times. I was however thinking 8-8 was very realistic. Was thinking we could maybe play some meaningful December games...I know crazy of me to think that. Well that aint happening if we start the season 0-5 it is even if the schedule gets a bit easier 2nd half of the season. The season could be over before it ever really started.

I hate feeling this way...I do. I'm usually a glass half full guy but I can't these negative thoughts I'm having and we are not even into WEEK 2 !!!....arggggggg. OK I'm calm now...just needed to vent.

These are reasonable questions and potential answers are sometimes not apparent. A couple of potential explanations based on conversations I've had with abuse victims: (1) A second, traumatic event can change the victim's perspective of an earlier episode that seemed benign at the time. That pain hurts even in retrospect; (2) Depending on financial circumstances, a victim will sometimes tolerate a certain level of abuse to earn needed income, something we can probably all relate to.

It does and the timing is a bit suspicious. Now obviously I'm not expert on this subject and I'm only going by what I've read, seen and heard but with the "Me Too" movement, woman feel more emboldened to come out of the closet and talk about abuse they've been subject too even if it's years later.

From the looks of it, Brown comes across as a complete jerk and look like he took advantage of this girl. I don't get the impression from what I've read of the complaint or a few other articles that the girl is a gold digger tho it's possible money changed hands.

I dunno. I don't see how Patriots can roster him while this is going on. Isn't the NFL looking into this and might put him in "exempt" status meaning the Patriots wouldn't even need to make a decision what to do.
