The Jets will always find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I have some students who are fellow Jets fans who were crushed by the loss and Darnold's mono. I just laughed. You can tell who is new to Jets fandom, because old school folks know that SOMETHING is coming sooner or later. My personal "faves":

The team's patented "lose a ton of games early in the season yet inexplicably finish on a winning streak to ensure a mediocre draft choice." The inverse of this is common as well.

The year they lost to the Steelers in the AFC title game--the story was that the defense was dominant (it was) but Sanchez had to avoid getting outplayed TOO badly by Big Ben. Game is played, and Sanchez's stat line stomped Ben's...but the D shat the bed instead.

The year they had Favre and were tearing things up for the first half the season, a buddy of mine (Ravens fan) asked "aren't you excited as a Jets fan?!" I told him "Nope. Wait for it." A couple weeks later, Favre shreds his shoulder and the Jets season fizzles out. He comes back to me all "how could you have known?"

The Jets will ALWAYS find a way to Jet things up. All we can do is choke down the bile and enjoy the ride. It's the sports franchise equivalent of a movie that is so bad that it borders on entertaining. I mean, losing a game because you can't find ANY kickers who can hit an extra point?! Losing a franchise QB to MONO?! You can't script this kind of stuff, haha.

Love Eli to death but you just can’t keep running him out there. He’s not a starting nfl quarterback anymore. He can’t make plays he rarely looks further than 7 or 8 yards down field and when he does he doesn’t trust himself to get the ball there so he checks down anyway. He can’t move at all to buy himself any room. This can’t continue

And Saquon will be lucky to touch the ball 20 times today

It’s pretty amazing that the Giants were so bad today that even if you remove the 2 turnovers they likely lose the game anyway. It’s not often a team is so bad offensively and defensively that in a 14 point loss you can say that

The Giant-Dolphin game this year is going to be an embarrassment. If I’m a league official, I’m not sure I’d want it televised.

If the WR core is all healthy the Giants will probably win that game going away. I would expect as the season goes on and the young D core plays together more they’ll improve. They will win several games against teams with mediocre offenses and bad defenses. The Giants schedule is so insanely easy this season (though they did just lose 1 of those easy games) it’s hard to see them contending at all for the top pick or really even top 3.

Man, if Eli Manning didn't have an out-of-body experience for 8 games in his career plus a defense that didn't allow more than 20 points in any of those games he'd be a Jay Cutler that got drafted #1 overall. 8 games made his entire f***ing career. He's played around 250 games. f***, I worked about the same amount of days at my last job that I frankly sucked balls at and I bet I could find 8 good days there.

And people want him in the HoF

I was a bigger fan of his until a few years ago and he's had a rough go of it with his O-line but the guy sucked until 2007. So he was good one playoff run where he was more of a game manager. Had a dominant run game the following year, allowing him to be a game manager again. Then he was pretty good in 2009-2011. But honestly, outside of 2011 he hasn't ever been anything special. Not even while winning the SBs, save the two Green Bay games and maybe the SF game. The guy has been mediocrity personified and just had a bunch of great circumstances that got him 2 rings. I will say I will always cherish his Manningham pass in his 2nd SB. But enough, the guy has never been that good. I love the two SBs but they don't make him some legend like a lot of Giants fans think.

I honestly think the Giants can go 1-15 this year. That Dolphins game being the lone win.

Hopefully the Dolphins lose all 16 games and then can pop champagne in the face of those losers from the 72 team and never see them again.

For some bizarre reason (I live in Manhattan) my TV Grids for both Spectrum and DirectV have the Patriots-Dolphins game on CBS (channel 2) at 1PM instead of the Giants-Bills. I checked the CBS-New York schedule and they still have Giants-Bills.

was the game aired? my cable also listed the pats/dolphins game on cbs ny but then my cable went out so didn't get to see which game they actually aired.

Eli had some very good years between 2007-2011 and then again 2016. Don't hate. Look, not every team wins a Championship. Most end up like the late 90s/early 2000s Ottawa Senators and are very good regular season teams but don't go all the way. The Capitals were a team like that until they had a magical playoff run with one of their less memorable on paper squads. Giants got two. Don't tell me you wouldn't sign up for that 11/10 times.

Rangers of this decade were very good but didn't go all the way. If this next core with Kaako/Kravstov/Fox/Chytil/K'Andre/etc. don't accomplish what the Rangers of this decade did with the Division Banners/President's Trophy but have that one magical run and win a Cup, you take that 11/10 times.
