Jones looks the part for sure. Should come in during the season though. The Giants have no reason to rush him along.

As for the Jets, we REALLY need a kicker. This is no joke. We got f***ed by Mac when it came to letting Myers go. Not like we don't have a ton of cap room still. Now we have to play kicker roulette and hope it works out OR waste our really high waiver claim on a kicker instead of a corner or a linebacker after losing Williamson.

I hate Macc even more now that he's gone.

Nobody gave Gronkowski shit for retiring at 30.

Different position sure, but same issue with injuries.

Edit- I'm looking at the drive summary of the Jets game and lol. Sorry to anyone who had to watch that.

There is really only one argument that made sense to me, and it was the timing. Retiring in August is something that sets the team back. If he retired in February, the Colts can make plans to try and get another QB in there. Could have been a team in on Josh Rosen (who couldn't beat Fitzpatrick in Miami though) or drafting a QB to play behind Jacoby Brissett for a season.

Outside of the team aspect, any player that doesn't want to play can retire whenever they want to. It's not anyone else's decision to make.

Myers was great last year. He was also terrible the two years before. The Jets got him after he was released in the preseason. I certainly wouldn’t have given him the deal he got either and would be looking to do the same thing again.

Yeah I totally understood the decision not to give Myers that money. He was hardly a sure thing. He had a great year for us, but he was not very highly-regarded prior to that. The problem was that Macc deemed Catanzaro a suitable replacement, I guess banking on catching lightning in a bottle twice in a row. It backfired and now we're f***ed.

Myers always had the leg he just lacked the accuracy. He finally found it last year. He’s been great for Seattle in the preseason. Either he or Boyer found something and it works.

MetLife is not an easy place to kick. If a guy can kick there, keep him. Especially if you have caproom. That being said something needs to be done because Bertolet is not pro caliber.

He played in 100+ snaps against 3rd- and 4th-stringers in the preseason and didn't have a single snap or even a hit. He evidently was bad throughout camp, and plays a position of need. Guy must have really been terrible.

Joe Douglas not f***ing around.

The Davis Webb/Kyle Lauletta picks were not the most inspiring lol

3rd and 4th round pick who combined for 0-5 and 1 interception.

If Bertolet actually makes it through cut downs and then the waiver period, I give him two weeks before he's cut.

Otherwise no real surprises for the Jets. I thought Wint and Burnett would make it, especially with Polite and Peake getting cut.

Happy we finally got rid of Tomlinson, who sucks at everything. Eager to see who comes in on waivers.

So now two clearly wasted mid round picks on QBs between Webb and Lauletta- jettisoned one year after they were drafted.

Not saying Lauletta would have been great... but it's like throwing away a scratch-off ticket before you've touched it.

I'm with you...thought Burnett, Wint as well as Burgeous Jr would make it. I have to admit, surprised Jets wouldn't give Polite a bit more time to see if he could turn things around. I know he wasn't impressing in camp but to cut him outright after 4 weeks...I dunno, he must have been absolutaly terrible as it's rare you see 3rd round picks cut just like that.

As far as Meyers who someone said we should have kept...I say horse manure. The guy wanted 3-4 million a year after one good year. IMO, it was one of Mac's few good moves he made not paying him that much. I do think we need to find a kicker but to have paid Meyers that much would have been a mistake.

Bottom line is I have the utmost confidence in Douglass to fix all that ails the Jets. He just doesn't have enough time this year to do what likely wants too. That said, if we are prepared to win alot of 31-28 type game seeing our secondary is going to get absolutaly torched by any QB who is any good, we might have a shot at the playoffs.

Next year is when I truly think we make our move but this year is going to be exciting and if we can somehow win 3 of the first 7 games of the season, we have a shot. But it starts with the first two seeing if we don't win the Bills and Brown games at home, the season can get away from us fast no matter how the schedule eases up the 2nd half of the season.

Agreed re: Polite. I thought, even though he sucked, they'd keep him around. Douglas doesn't seem like the type of guy to cut a player just because it wasn't his pick or sign, so Polite must have been really unimpressive.

DB, WR and Kicker will be top priorities with this waiver period.

Outside of our top 3 WR, there isn't much there.

Also, we should just check whoever was cut by the Eagles. I'd say there is a really good chance a few from there will be Jets. Douglass will tap into what he knows and we know the Eagles are a very good organization.

I think either Smallwood or Josh Adams will be Jets.

Need some edge rush help too. Polite was supposed to address that, but clearly that did not happen. I'm curious where he ends up. If he ends up on the Patriots, I'd all but say he'll be a success.
