They’ll bottom out this year. Trevor Lawrence will come out early and then they’ll be the hot up and comers again.

Meanwhile your boy Hill will be charged with beating his gf and kid again and he’ll be playing in Dallas come the start of next season.

Lawrence has 2 years before he can enter the draft. This year is all about Tua, Fromm and Herbert.

Besides Luck, I was trying to think of players who retired way too soon for whatever the reason and it was a shocker:

Jim Brown and Sandy Koufax are the two obvious ones from the past. My Dad god bless his soul, if he were alive would still be telling me that Jim Brown was the best RB he ever saw and that Koufax for those 5-6 years, there was no one in baseball history who was as dominant as Koufax was during those years in the mid 60's in LA. When those two retired, it was a huge shock....Brown cause he wanted to be an actor and Koufax due to his arm couldn't take it anymore.

For me tho, these are the 4 I can come up with that I've seen play that were shockers:

Bo Jackson- If anyone saw him play both baseball and football as I did, it's hard for anyone to convince me that this guy wasn't the greatest athlete who ever lived. That hip injury he suffered didn't even look that bad when it occurred but it ended up ending his football career and he was never the same again on the baseball diamond. I couldn't believe he was going from Bo can do everything to Bo can't do shit anymore just like that.

Barry Sanders- Funny, he was the first guy I ever drafted in fantasy football which was back in 1997...wow can't believe I've been doing fantasy football, baseball and hockey for 22 years. Anyways, no one was more exciting with the football in his hands that I've ever seen than Barry. I recall being dumbfounded when he said he was thru as he had just come off a great season with Detroit. He was special to watch.

Robert Smith- Ex-Viking RB but a smart guy...I think he wanted to become a doctor. But he was a great back and I owned him a few times in fantasy. Total shock when he retired on top of his game

Megatron-Calvin Johnson- Another Hall of Famer who was still top of his game who just decided he'd had enough. To this day, Megatron was the most exciting WR I've seen in the past 20 years...he was awesome.

And now Luck. Pretty wild but if this is what he wants to do and he can't take the injuries anymore at 29, who are we to argue. Wish him nothing but the best and thank him for helping me win a fantasy title last year....:)

Do you really think any fans of any team in any sport wouldn’t boo if it leaks that their star player who is still young suddenly retires in the middle of the game with no explanation from him?
No I don't. I was surprised luck managed to come back and play last season. Hes been battling injuries for most of his career and Indy fans should know that.

I’m a colts fan and I understand his decision to retire. Nor would I have booed him if I was at the game. There were always whispers he wasn’t happy in Indy to begin with.

But if you’re surprised that fans booed, then I don’t know what to tell you. The team has been pumped up as a contender with Luck’s return. The organization made it seem like he’d be out a couple of weeks at most. They have watched Brisset be terrible the last couple of seasons. You can’t understand their frustration?

Also, how many people boo Staal and booed Girardi knowing their injury history? Let’s not act like our own fans don’t do that.

I'm pretty sure if Staal retired there would be no booing.

I think it was just the "surprise" element. I think a lot of those people who booed, once they read Luck talking about all the injuries and how they've taken a toll, how he's not all there emotionally and he can't look his teammates in the eye when they're giving it 100% and he's no longer capable of being fully invested, they'd probably wish they hadn't booed. But of course the frustration is understandable, again, especially given the somewhat surprise nature of it all.

People boo girardi and Staal because they suck. A lot has to do with their injury history but if its bad enough they should retire yet they won't. Bad things happen to players who are injured but try to play anyway. Bad things happen to their teams as well. That's why guys like Staal and Girardi got bood (and their usage by the coach doesn't help). But Luck gets booed despite missing nearly 25% of the games in his career and does the right thing by retiring instead of forcing a trade or hold out etc. Whether the Colts did the right thing by not reclaiming cap space is something else. How many other players get booed when they retire? Only in Indy. I'm not surprised they bood, par for the course with them. We just boo players when they get drafted. :) Now if Luck returns to the NFL and plays for another team then give him your worst.

That wasn’t the point I was making and you know it.

Well I didn't not know that was your point.

But seriously comparing a guy who gets booed for retiring because his body is breaking down to two guys who get booed (do they actually ever get booed?) for being awful and will never retire no matter how much their bodies break down, does not really make much sense despite me agreeing with your "idiots are going to be idiots and every fanbase has its share" premise. That was just a weird example to use since Staal retiring would be like the best thing ever.

Listening to grown men in their 30s and 40s comparing their jobs to Luck's is hilarious.

He's not doing anything different. If Luck was a cop he'd have retired on 2/3 to the Carolinas after the first injury. :sarcasm:

I heard a conspiracy theory today that Andrew Luck may be looking to play in his dad's new league. THAT would piss off a lot of Colt's fans for sure.
I mean it would be insane. If that were the singular reason, he'd be walking away from literally hundreds of millions of dollars to play in a league that's probably out of business (again) in two years. The Colts also retain his rights and could block him from doing that. At the minimum, you'd think they'd go back after those tens of millions they initially chose not to pursue from him.

Yeah, I figured there'd be no way Indy would allow that, but then I heard that he may not play, but be an executive in the XFL. That seems more likely to me.

That still sounds dangerous, I mean what are the odds that XFL executives end up getting called down to the field for a "front office grudge match" or something to get kick in the crotch and choke slammed a la the WWE? Probably pretty high.

Also I would watch that.

Andrew Luck was in so much pain that he didn't want to play for the premiere football league in the world.

I don't know that he's going to return to the same brutal sport and play for a 10000000000000% decrease in pay and for Vince McMahon lol.

Not to be a dick but this whole Luck story has shown how many people just react to headlines or blurbs and don’t actually listen or read the full story.

People saw the Schefter tweet or headline flashed on social media and freaked out. I can’t tell you how many of the people I know who went nuts didn’t even realize he’s currently injured.

EDIT: this isn't taking a shot at anyone here. I'm just speaking overall on this issue.
