Thing is, no one asked Baker Mayfield anything. The Giants were on an ESPN segment nearby the interview and Baker made those comments completely on his own volition lol

ESPN takes a break from "Is this browns team the GOAT? We discuss" for 5 mins to cover the Giants and Baker gets mad

Yeah, his mouth/attitude = a large part of why I was so vehemently against my Browns drafting him (the rest was due to his height). Hard to argue with the results (so far), though.
Yeah he's who I wanted the Jets to draft (although I would have wanted Darnold more if I thought he'd actually fall to us). As long as he keeps his head on straight, he'll be a stud. I've know many guys like him (I think most of us have) that end up shooting themselves in the foot by acting on emotion and not really thinking things through. Hopefully he can avoid that.

I absolutely love Barkley. I'd absolutely have loved if we got baker instead of him ok the draft. Baker is a great qb with that arrogant winning attitude that will probably win a superbowl. Hes like a mix of Rodgers and brees lol.

If Jones keeps this up I'd rather have him and Barkley over Baker and whomever.

Jones looks good, and Lauletta showed a little tonight. Hopefully they can keep him in the organization.

So Gmen fans....simple question from an obviously longtime Jet fan who is thrilled we have Darnold.

If you could do it all over again knowing what you know now from all the players involved....would you rather have:

Darnold and anyone your hearts desired at #6 overall this year...let's just say Josh Allen LB of Kentucky
or what you have now Barkley and Daniel Jones?

Sam and Josh Allen.

This is hard to answer. We don't know enough about Jones and I know nothing about Allen. That said Barkley is a generational talent, might become the best RB ever. I'd take my chances on banking on the gap between Jones and Darnold being less than Barkley and whomever. Hell, it's possible there won't be a gap between Darnold and Jones. Frankly, Darnold hasn't proven much himself yet.

That's the nice way of putting it. The honest way is no f***ing way would I make that trade. Darnold hasn't proven anything yet and the only proven player is Barkley who is already one of the best in the league.

That's a fair answer and if I was a Giant fan, I'd have some serious consternation as to which way to go here as you seem to be having.

I think it all comes down to this, and you mentioned it...will Darnold be alot better than Jones will be or will the gap be negligable...that's it in a nutshell...yes?

Barkley is no question a transcendental talent and like you say, he has the tools to end up being the best RB of the last 10-20 years. However is Darnold going to end up being an all-pro caliber type player for the next 10 years? Will he lead the Jets to a Super Bowl? Is Daniel Jones going to end up being more Dave Brown or Eli? That's what it's all going to come down too.

This may be a cop out but when I look into my "crystal ball", I have a feeling when it's all said and done, both franchises are going to feel as if they made the right call and it will end up being a win/win for both. My opinion is Darnold will end up being a Top 10 QB within the next 2 years and has upside for Top 5 QB stats once the Jets fix their O-line and bring in a few more top notch skill position players on the outside which might not happen for a few more seasons.

On the other hand tho I don't see Jones coming close to being an all-pro or close to be a Top 10 type guy I do see him being no questions startable...a Kirk Cousins type of QB which is fine and most Giant fans will be ultimately be happy.

This going to be fascinating and alot of fun going forward for all Jet and Giant fans as we get to see and compare how both the 2018 and '19 drafts ultimately work themselves out and where both our teams end up doing.

As a Giants' fan I simply don't know.

I'll go with the Giants picks because if Jones pans out it will make the media gasbags look as unknowledgeable and arrogant as most of them are.

Barkley is a generational talent. Not sure any of Darnold Jones Allen are that. At least not yet.

Having to do it again? I take the by far best player in the draft again in Barkley. And he’s not just good. He’s smart. He’s got character he truly is a guy you want as the face of your franchise.

Now having Said all that? I would have taken Barkley taken Allen at 6 and traded the 2nd for Josh Rosen who I still like a lot.

If Rosen isn’t the guy then I’d have turned my attention to QB in 2020.

Now now now having said all that. Storm Born Daniel Jones Dropper of Dimes looks like an absolute stud and is making a lot of people myself included look very stupid.

Generational talents don't matter if you play a position that is important. He also had basically the same year CMC and the same as Bell has had several times. It's hardly unprecedented.
