Confirmed Trade: [MIN/CBJ] David Jiricek, 2025 5th round pick for Daemon Hunt, 2025 1st round pick, 2027 2nd round pick, 2026 3rd and 4th round picks

I wouldn’t confuse minnesotas desperation to avoid a collapse out of the playoffs as a sign of jiroceks good play.

The post you quoted had me saying it will take years to declare a winner of this trade. I didn't give a reason why he was called up at all. Not did I talk about Minny and their play.

Well.. a lot is posters above are saying he sucks and can't skate. Columbus has already won the trade. So I assume the HF posters above are correct and the wild will cut bait, admit he sucks and trade him for a 7th round pick.

I cannot think of any other reason they would call him up... Not a single one.lol

He was called up because Brodin and Bogosian were both injured. The last time he was up with Minnesota he looked like he belonged in the NHL and was one of their best defensemen.

It’s clear you need something (anything) to justify the trade for Columbus though.

I get it's a good thing. I'm not saying to change it. BUT I'm an Oiler fan and we had this kid who was very similar. Philip Broberg. And he's a lefty. We'd send him to the minors, then call him up because he was too good down there and play him on his right side. Then send him down again. Repeat. Then the fanbase declared him a bust. It didn't end well for us.lol

But this is a general bitch on prospects everyday on HF. Eg. my fav offensive prospect got called up and was put on line 4 and given 8 minutes. How is he supposed to show how good he is? My fav offensive dman gets called up, gets 8 minutes on bottom pair and sent back down. When should he show his offense?

This isn't as bad but it's hard for a young D to surivive on their good side yet alone their bad one.

Still, it's nice. They are clearly giving him a chance. Hell, maybe my joke is true and they really are showcasing him for a trade before deadline? I didn't think I'd see him again in the NHL this season to be honest so this is gravy.

The Wild fanbase likes Jiricek and expects him to be a long term solution at 2RD behind Faber. The people who are saying he sucks are Columbus fans searching for a reason to justify the trade.

Wild literally have Jonas brodin and BOGO injured! That’s why he was called up to play. He was wild best defender and offensively he was good.

Such a laughable comment! Wild have one of the best skating coach / Trainer in the NHL and David J was literally Awesome night to night. Only reason he was sent down again is because of wild cap situation

His problem has never been skating straight ahead .. he struggles badly when he’s skating to get back and pivoting to skate backwards . Getting in and out of the transitions he’s struggles badly … Perhaps it can be improved , but under Waddell he prioritizes defenseman that can skate. Mateychuk blew by him in camp , after Jiricek was given every opportunity to earn a spot in the lineup .
 
Just in moment Jiricek is going to shut CBj fans up, he was solid in his first 4 games and absolute machine in his last 2 games with Minnesota. And Mateychuk is not doing much rn with Columbus lol, this trade will bite Wadell in the butt. On the other hand, he sucked at Columbus this year.

Minnesota isn't expecting a franchise defenseman but someone to compliment the defensemen they have. I think Columbus fans think Minnesota fans are expecting a major contributor when all we need is for him to round out the top 4 and provide something different which is already happening.
