I watched US/Russia game and the guys talked about were really good. KPs list is really good but we all can move some of the last 8 players around to preference. Anyone getting into that top 10 is going to get a really talented prospect. Putting Hughes in his own class Turcotte, Caufield, Boldy were all very impressive.

There's allot more of the tourny to go and want to see these guys when they are playing Canada when it counts.

What if Krebs is the 2015's Barzal and Zegras is the 2015's Connor?....and Dach is the 2015's Zacha
and Boldy is 2015's Crouse?

2015 NHL Entry Draft Picks at hockeydb.com

I would not be surprised if Krebs and Zegras both sneak into top 6...maybe one or both go before Podkolzin and Dach.

Peyton Krebs's Player Profile

Sam Conentino - SportsNetFeb. 13th: "He impresses enough with his play, but when looking for character he’s plus-plus. Think Ty Dellandrea."

Cam Robinson - Dobber ProspectsFeb. 6th: "The supremely skilled forward is elusive and shifty with the puck. Takes creative lines to dangerous areas of the ice. The type of player that sees plays develop before those around him and uses that to exploit the opposition. Owns terrific puck skills. "

Steve Kournianos - Sporting NewsJan. 31st: "Krebs is a sturdy, three-zone playmaker with leadership traits who plays a similar style to the Blackhawks' Jonathan Toews."

Bob McKenzie - TSNJan. 24 th: "Krebs, at 5-foot-11-1/4 and 180 pounds, is an energetic and industrious playmaking pivot who has a high hockey IQ. He has 16 goals and 37 assists for 53 points in 44 games, which reinforces his reputation as playmaker more than a scorer but some questions about size and offensive upside will be raised."

Hannah Stuart - theScoreJan. 9th: "Krebs is an exciting, tenacious, well-rounded player who could certainly be selected inside the top 10. He performs well under pressure, and his elite offensive production is largely due to his excellent vision."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - Dec. 12th: "Dealing with the pressures of being a franchise centrepiece, rumours surrounding that franchise moving, the challenges of being in his draft year, and now the additional responsibilities of being named captain."

I kind of have a slight Like/Dislike relationship with Krebs. On the "Like," side of things, he really seems like one of the best, if not the best playmaker of those Top 10 guys depending on who is breaking down his profile. He sees the ice on another level and makes some perfect passes. He really controls the play well.

On the flip side, he is not well built and somewhat slight so he will either have to put on some good weight without it affecting his skating and skillset or have eyes in the back of his head so he doesn't get killed. He also will need an elite scorer to make use of his dynamic playmaking ability because he is one of those guys who seems to look pass first and doesn't take a lot of shots that are there for him. He seems to have the scoring touch but just would rather set guys up first. Krebs on a line with a guy like Caufield would definitely get people out of their seats on a rush.

Krebs at #5 is probably not my choice but I won't kick my tv over it. If they grabbed him after a trade down (to #8 as an example) would be more appealing especially if we are picking up another 2nd rounder in a trade.

Wonder if a trade with Buffalo could be had that involves trading down.

Quick + 5th OA for Buffalo’s 7th OA + Rasmus Ristolainen.

No salary retained on Quick and we get our VV replacement finally.

If they were willing and I doubt it I'd be all over this offer. Ristolainen has some of the best tools in the league. We've been great at developing goalies and defenders. Wouldn't need to be the top guy and could slot where he belongs running the 2nd pairing. Adds a physical edge we need too.

Counter argument:
What if Dach turns into a less physical Getzlaf while Krebs and Zegras careers mimic Boyle and Tambelinni?
There's always a risk. Take BPA.

I think there's allot of potential for deals with Buf and Edm (8th). I like your thought and if there are ways to widen the deal and make adjustments. Maybe we include one of our our 3 rookie Dmen and there are other ways to slice it. Maybe even Det. Play all 3 of those against each other.

If Byrum is still there then I make the pick, probably the same if Turcottes's there but who know what crazy deal Blake will get offered when our pick comes up with who's left on the board by a GM that is totally over the moon for a certain player like Pod or ??

This could turn out very nice for us.

Agreed! It's certainly possible.

Any of the following could end up in any order of being the best player, 2 years from now:
Turcotte, Byram, Cozens, Dach, Krebs, Boldy, Zegras, Caulfield...then others could end up
surpassing any of these: Kaliyev, York, Harley, Broberg, Soderstrom, Newhook, Brink...certainly possible.

There's 17 players (didnt add Hughes or Kakko, they make list 17 players) that will probably all go top 25. Next group Tomasino, Knight, Lavoie, Seider, Pelletier, Suzuki, Heinola, McMichael, Leason. That's 26 right there and about where the Kings' Leaf pick is. Going to get 3 excellent prospects 5, 26ish, 33.

I hope Brink falls to the second 1st rounder. I can also watch him play at DU this coming season. 5 miles
from my place.

Looking over final NA Skaters from Central Scouting. One 'what the?' that stood out to me is #16
overall Yegor Afanasyev. F 6'4" 201. Higher than Bobby Brink and McMichael. Played USHL
and is thus here in North America. Not sure if he's committed anywhere next yr.
One thing that stood out in my mind when Mayor posted something about the draft -
maybe it was from Jesse Cohen's site "love size" quote from Yanetti (just 2 weeks ago the night of the lottery)....so they still covet that, but obviously have stated they want elite speed and skill. Takeaway for me, is they still want size, but will favor skating and skill. Size today can mean 6'1" 190....not necessarily the 6'3" 210 size of years past. Kupari can fit that definition - speed, skill and size. So I keep in mind they still want all of those things and are not going to go all out 5'8" 175 and throw size out the door.

Anyone know much about Afanasyev? Maybe could be on the list of players they may be looking
at around the 33 mark.

I don't know what to think about guys who have a big tournament then rise way up where they were originally projected. Podkolzin was once thought of as a 3rd round pick but moved way up after the Hlinka tournament.

He's committed to Michigan State.

Haven't heard much of him but will look more into him and maybe watch some videos from prospectshifts.com.

Yeah I dislike it too.

It should be Turcotte, Byram or Cozens IMO.

Though i am starting to like Boldy.

I still think at least two of that US squad will bust.

If Vegas, BOS, Canes win their game 7 AND then BOS and Islanders both lose in next round I think The Kings' Toronto pick will be 20.

Did anyone do the math if that pick can get higher?

there is no world in which quick fetches risto

I believe 20th overall is the highest.

Personally i do not care much if its the 20th or 25th overall pick.

I just want Toronto to lose quickly so they traded away that pick, Durzi & Grundstrom for basically nothing.

That would be great.

That's correct.

The conference final matchups would have to be VGK/COL vs DAL/STL and CAR vs CBJ.

they have Muzzin for another year at a good cap hit...was a fair trade imo

A possible first round exit and Muzzin for another year was not worth the price IMO.

They're losing Hainsey and Gardiner most likely so having an experienced #2 d-man for a team whose window is open...that's pretty much the going price. d-men like muzzin available for trade don't grow on trees as was illustrated around the time of the trade.

Agreed. It's the cost of doing business to acquire at top 4 guy like Muzzin who comes equipped with a pretty good resume.

I mean, we got 3 pieces in the deal but, it's way too early to judge how it has turned out for us. Let's look at this one in a few years if/when Durzi is a pro and Grundstrom has a few years under his belt with the Kings.

Hopefully we can hit on the Leafs pick. Time will tell.

To suggest the Leafs got nothing out of it on their end is disingenuous.

I would suggest to read their board.

Muzzin is a 2nd pairing defenseman. Those are no rarity. He has his fair share of great games but is quite often a liabillity too. We traded him at the highest price.
