I would suggest to read their board.

Muzzin is a 2nd pairing defenseman. Those are no rarity. He has his fair share of great games but is quite often a liabillity too. We traded him at the highest price.

The price for similar d-men is the same. See: Shattenkirk.

If I were a team with an open window and I could replace Hainsey and Gardiner with Muzzin for the cost of an average top 2-3 d-man I'd do it.

Durzi doesn't help them for years. Grundstrom disappointed them in camp and if there's a position they have redundancies at it's forward. The pick is a mystery box. Those guys all look good for us now but it would be like saying we lost the trade with Philly because Simmonds and Schenn went on to have great careers (obviously outcome TBA for Toronto but Muzzin isn't the problem).

I'm not really disagreeing with you in general, I just think both things are true--we got a lot back and TO is happy as Muzzin will be their 2nd best d-man this year and next if not longer. Win-win.

We won two cups with Richards. Thats why I specifically said “if they lose tonight”. That part must not be ignored.

Muzzin is just signed for one more year, and i would be hesistant to resign him.

Tonight will be huge for the leafs.
Getting bounced in the first round with no first round pick and no cap space going forward is not what they had in mind.
Muzzin is a good player but next year he could fetch 6+ at 31. I rather pass on that and get the 3 assets for this rebuild.

U18's today. USA and CANADA won their games...Caulfield 'only' 2 goals today. Bobby Brink has 4 pts in 2 games with USA. Hope he falls to the Kings second 1st, but kind of
doubting he will. Tomasino 4 pts in 3 games...another possible draftee at the 2nd 1st rounder. Doubt he falls to 33 overall. Heinola 4 pts in 4 games.

Toronto's rebuild? What?

And who are you getting to replace Muzzin for less than 6 million, assuming he even gets that much?

^^^^ exactly.

He need to be resigned and is probably looking for $6M. Big pass.

Now of course if they will go on to win the cup, than it is another story.

You're thinking like the 2019 Kings rather than the 2012 Kings.

Team has giant hole. Team fills giant hole using assets that won't be on the team for years without giving up their top assets who are ready to help next year. They still have Sandin, Liljegren + on D, Johnsson, Trevor Moore, Bracco at F on top of all their crazy young guns. What they didn't have is a current top 2-3 d-man.

This is also really crazy to see from you given you're fighting a battle in the other thread about what it cost to be the 2012-2014 Kings and how others lack perspective.

Really stupid that I have to stick up for Toronto here. "Cup or Bust" is a really shallow way to evaluate the Muzzin trade. I'll mock the hell out of them because I said after the JT trade anything short of the conference finals would be a disappointing season, but unless Muzzin pulls a Gardiner tonight...

I haven't seen this many good American hockey draft eligible players ever.. I'd also add John Beecher to the list at #33

True! Kings could draft Turcotte , Zegras or Caulfield at 5 and Vlasic or Beecher at 33. Possibly Spencer Knight with the 2nd 1st. Vlasic seems to be falling out of rd 1. He's -2 in the U18 and only minus player on Team USA in tournament. How can you be a minus on this team??

Man, I really hope Podz is picked 3-4. That really would open up things for the Kings. Obviously I say that because I do not want him.
Turcotte, Byram or move down

Im getting really nervous that Alex Turcotte will go to the CBH and Bowen Byram will go to the Avs... I'd love Podzolkin in the late teens and i'd trade up, but having to pick between Dach, Cozens, Zegras and Boldy doesnt really move the needle for me

To me they are all just nitpicky close in abilities. Byram is the guy I want most tho. After that it’s basically the same. I like Krebs more and more honestly. Newhook too. Boldy is no slouch. Heck, Caufield is impressive too. Hoping LA comes away with three solid prospects at least.

if turcotte and byram are gone by 5 i look to trade down a bit and get a 2nd or more extra

Is the knock on Podkolzin mainly the Russian factor? Because what i have seen of him is incredibly impressive. He seems to compete incredibly hard. Plays both ends of the ice. And is one of the few players in this draft that has the skill AND a great shot. Alot of the other prospects have great skating and skill but lack an above average shot.

And i dont know about you guys, but after watching the kings play for the last few seasons we are severely lacking guys that can finish.

Its the only knock ive heard on him. A lot of people think hes the 3rd best player in the draft but see him fall due to the Russian factor.

If the Leafs lose this game when will be know what their pick number will be? After the end of the second round?
As was previously said, by the end of the 2nd round, however it's most likely to be in the 20-23 range, give or take one higher or lower. Just need them not to make the conference finals. That would be bad for us, and the Cup finals even worse.

Yes. The pick will be clearer by the conference finals

Am I thinking the right way or being an idiot.

So Tampa is going to pick after Toronto no matter what, Calgary, Nashville, Winnipeg too right?
So 4 in the conference final, plus the 4 above does that mean at worst it will be is 23.

Right? , and I think Islanders and Caps (if Caps win) play so it would drop to 22, and if Sharks lose tonight or 2nd round Kings move up to 21?

Boston loses in round to up to 20, and I think that is about the best right? or maybe 19 if Caps lose to Carolina and Islanders lose to Caronlina..

Kings rebuild, I rather have the 3 assets going forward for the Kings
Mickey Anderson just signed how about giving him a shot.

Pittsburgh and Winnipeg's picks come before Toronto, since they had fewer points in the standings.

Calgary, Nashville, and TB will definitely be above, as they were the division winners who did not make the conference finals. Those 3 + the final four pushes the pick to 24th at worst.
