Yea I know the league is getting faster but I don't see too many smaller players producing come playoff time. I'd still have a tough time drafting a kid like that in the 1st round.

I just think it's way too boom/bust with a top five pick. I'd certainly try him after 10th overall and beyond.

Boldy's moving up in my list, too. Him and Turcotte look like gamers.

Anyone watching the U18's? 7 pts for Hughes last game and 6 for Caulfield. Both had 4 goals.
Boldy 1 goal and 3 assists. Turcotte 2 goals and 4 assists first 2 games.
I see Krebs has had a goal and an assist in each of Team Canada's first 2 games.
Alex Newhook a goal and 2 assists. Good to be able to see him with Team Canada,
so it can be seen how good he is, outside the BCHL.

Glad Blake went there and hope most of the scouts are there.

People have been raving about Krebs, still wouldn't consider him at 5, but if they were to move back past #8 he would enter the discussion.

What if Krebs is the 2015's Barzal and Zegras is the 2015's Connor?....and Dach is the 2015's Zacha
and Boldy is 2015's Crouse?

2015 NHL Entry Draft Picks at hockeydb.com

I would not be surprised if Krebs and Zegras both sneak into top 6...maybe one or both go before Podkolzin and Dach.

Peyton Krebs's Player Profile

Sam Conentino - SportsNetFeb. 13th: "He impresses enough with his play, but when looking for character he’s plus-plus. Think Ty Dellandrea."

Cam Robinson - Dobber ProspectsFeb. 6th: "The supremely skilled forward is elusive and shifty with the puck. Takes creative lines to dangerous areas of the ice. The type of player that sees plays develop before those around him and uses that to exploit the opposition. Owns terrific puck skills. "

Steve Kournianos - Sporting NewsJan. 31st: "Krebs is a sturdy, three-zone playmaker with leadership traits who plays a similar style to the Blackhawks' Jonathan Toews."

Bob McKenzie - TSNJan. 24 th: "Krebs, at 5-foot-11-1/4 and 180 pounds, is an energetic and industrious playmaking pivot who has a high hockey IQ. He has 16 goals and 37 assists for 53 points in 44 games, which reinforces his reputation as playmaker more than a scorer but some questions about size and offensive upside will be raised."

Hannah Stuart - theScoreJan. 9th: "Krebs is an exciting, tenacious, well-rounded player who could certainly be selected inside the top 10. He performs well under pressure, and his elite offensive production is largely due to his excellent vision."

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - Dec. 12th: "Dealing with the pressures of being a franchise centrepiece, rumours surrounding that franchise moving, the challenges of being in his draft year, and now the additional responsibilities of being named captain."

Boldy has looked real good and just should of had a assist but guy in front of net didn’t have his stick on the ice and it went under it but still a accurate pass

Watching USA/Russia now. Spencer Knight looks pretty awful, aside from stick handling the puck well (one of the attributes I don't value high with goalies)

Boldy and Turcotte completed a beautiful 2-on-1.

Podkolzin had a great first point of the tourney.

Another great pass this time to Turcotte for a goal if Turcotte is gone this is a man size power forward who looks great against his peers and has a frame to play in the nhl no matter what “flavor of the month the league is at”

I’m not high on a goalie who plays on a stacked team. Scouts like him tho.

USA has just been the better team and Russia has not been much of a threat at all 5-on-5.

Podkolzin had a shorthanded 2-on-1 shot in the second period, but other than that, wasn't really tested much. Granted, Knight has good composure and confidence, but I'm not nearly as high on him as others are.

Really liking Boldy, Brink, and Turcotte.

Caufield had another beautiful goal with an amazing assist from Hughes. Still don't think I'd take him at 5, but I definitely would in the teens; maybe if the Kings move up from Toronto's pick or trade some other asset to move up there, he'd be a great get.

Caufield with another goal. Ties US record for performance in the U-18 with 9 in 3 games (set by Kessel).

Ovechkin has the record with 14 in 8 games.

He very well could be, but I don't think teams will sleep on him like they did on DeBrincat. He may go in the top 10 of the first round. DeBrincat fell to the 2nd round.

He is destined to go on day one of the draft. I don't think any team will pass on a guy who consistently has been putting the puck in the net at every level he's played in.

It's possible. I like some other players more for their size and well rounded play.

I have him 10th on my list; trying to make tweaks as I watch more (I try not to judge based off of just one game, but I don't have the luxury of watching too many of these games, and I try to isolate players as much as possible)..

Jack Hughes
Kaapo Kakko
Alex Turcotte
Bowen Byram
Matthew Boldy
Kirby Dach
Peyton Krebs
Dylan Cozens
Vasili Podkolzin
Cole Caufield

I agree.

He's a great scoring winger who just puts himself in good scoring positions. It's not just luck he gets all those goals; he has a technique where he has a good combination of release, power, and accuracy in spite of his size.

I can't see taking him at 5. If the Kings do, it's a bold move and am behind what they do in the draft now these days, after the last 3 drafts, they have drafted well.

The players that are 5'7" 160 have to be elite skaters, but I think to succeed at that size they must be tenacious and be fearless. Even still, look at how the Avs contained Gaudreau. They hit him every chance and played him physical and neutralized him. And it has been said he is the best at moving his feet in the world....so if there is a player that is close to Caulfield, but has 2 inches and 20 lbs on him, I still go for that player....but Caulfield has the ability to produce and score in any game. I am still hoping for Turcotte or Byram.

Regarding the play of Lizotte (tiny sample size, no pun intended) vs Rempal. I think Lizotte
will probably be the one to succeed, as he looked tenacious and fearless out there...compared
to Rempal, who showed he could skate and had some skills - but he seemed to lack the tenacity
and playing fearless elements. He seemed to hesitate a few times as well. If you're 5'7" and 165,
the only way to succeed (in the NHL) is to have tenacity, play fearless and to be quick not only on your skates, but quick to make the play. An extra second to make the play, an NHL player will take you out or impede the play, you're trying to make....this is not just a small player thing, but more
important for them, as they will get clobbered. ...and then later could be playing scared or tentative.
This is how Kane succeeds - great skater, top end skills, elusive and fast to make plays.
