Exactly, we can do at least as good as Dillon/Braun/Melker/Dell for cheaper, strong possibility it actually ends up improving the team. Not that they were bad players per se but they are expendable. Sign Meier and Labanc to bridge deals, same percentage as Couture took, half the rest goes to Pavs and fill out the rest with prospects and vet minimum types. My expectations for Labanc and Meier are two year deals but they could be three year bridges. Two years gives them the flexibility of seeing what they can move out for the expansion draft process to re-sign both to term. Like I think it could be easy to convince Seattle to take Kane when he'd only have four years left at that rate or Jones with three years left and use that to keep Labanc and Meier long term after their bridge. If they keep Pavs for three years, you could bridge these two to that term as well.
I think moving on from at least Dillon, Melker, and Dell is feasible and better for the team. I think Bibeau or Korenar can at least provide the same poor performances that Dell and Jones did last year if we're keeping the system as is that'll expose anyone in net. I want someone in Dillon's spot that is a solid PK guy. Melker is too expensive to be a 4th liner who PK's adequately. Trade him, bring up True and have him center the 4th line and move Goodrow to wing. Nothing lost there.
What I am thinking too. I thought Burns being here pretty much guarantees Jumbo is coming back but could be wrong. That would be wild if he retired with no farewell tour. I bet it has a lot to do with Pavs

I'm more than okay with saying goodbye to both. Love them for everything that they did here but this is a new team and a new league moving forward and I don't think that either of them will be effective, positive contributors in May of 2020.

My take is he probably realizes he was a liability during the playoffs for many games. I bet he just wants to make sure that he can contribute like he wants to.
PDP needs to institute some serious "load management" with Jumbo. Play 40 games as the 4th liner to keep him healthy and ready for the playoffs.
Can definitely see Chekhovich getting a spot in the top 9 next year.
This is an intriguing option for me. Let Gambrell see if he can hack it at 3C and if he can't you see if Jumbo wants to come back or acquire a depth center via trade.Wouldn't mind Thornton signing and joining the team mid season if he keeps his game strong.
I honestly don't know who else DW could be thinking off. Has Chmeleveski ever played wing?
Gambrell was my other guess but dude barely performed as a 4th liner this year. That would be a massive leap of faith to think he can be an NHL calibre player on the 3rd line. He's played the right wing before but he's predominantly a center in juniors. I didn't get a chance to see how Sommer used him last year though. But when DW says that, I'm thinking he's leaning more towards Gambrell than anyone else.

Yeah I'm not seeing it with Gamby. I'd be OK with him penciled in as a 4th liner, but don't expect more out of him yet. Anybody think one of our players gets an offersheet from another team?
