DW will trade away the expendables, we need picks and capspace, he'll get us both. Just please get Pavs signed.

I think he will. I think that Pavs was kept in the loop directly about the Karlsson situation. I think if Pavs leaves it will be his choice, much like Marleau's. If he wants to stay, he can stay, he may not get as much as he would on the open market, but that's the rub.

I think you nailed it.

I am 100% certain that Pavs was well aware of the fact that EK65 being re-signed was top priority. I am fairly certain he also figured that if EK65 did re-sign it would mean him getting top dollar in SJ would be next to impossible. I think the next priority is going to be Meier. After that, it should be Labanc but I am think it is most likely going to Pavs. Either way, I don't see Pavs getting what we would get in the open market. His best chance is that both Meier and Labanc sign bridge deals for 2 years and Pavs signs a deal for the same length of time. The AAV of that deal ends up depending on how much Meier and Labanc make.

They aren't going to be required to protect Burns but he obviously will be.
We'll see. DW has left himself an out from a big contract with the expansion draft if he has to pull the ripcord and the cap is closing down on him.

Anyways, I think if we offer Pavelski term he will stay. Since we're going to be running with our current group of players for the next 5-8 years it looks like, just offer Pavs a 5x5 and hope he takes it, plus hope he can skate at the age of 39.

If Pavelski is willing to make sure that he doesn't have to be protected for the expansion draft then I'd be for it.

Has cap circumvention penalty or worse (Pavs actually being able to skate and collecting 5 mil on the cap to be old and bad) written all over it.

I'm one of the few I guess who would really like to keep Nyquist, I like him on and off the ice, and I feel like he just 'fits' the team needs really well. We also haven't seen his best hockey yet (consistently anyway), which is understandable. Plus he's buddies with Karlsson, so he might come cheaper then expected, for a short term deal anyway. I'm fine with losing Donskoi (though he's fun to watch), Melker, Braun, Dillon, Dell... and Jones if we can find another goalie at a cheaper price.

I'm more than okay with saying goodbye to both. Love them for everything that they did here but this is a new team and a new league moving forward and I don't think that either of them will be effective, positive contributors in May of 2020.
If Jumbo resign I hope he plays mostly 4th line center or 3rd line wing. Keep his minutes low so he can be effective late in the year.

Not the greatest forward depth, but Miller can be moved at the deadline or LTIRd if he can't rehab his knee well enough this offseason. Bruins are clearly wanting to compete so upgrading for just the price of Nordstrom they would likely do. Nordstrom is my ideal bottom 6 pickup. Cheap, effective, and can score.

I want Jumbo to be 4C as well. But we are not exactly brimming in options for 3C.
I disagree. I think there are a few guys who could be ready. Might be a committee type situation between gambrel, Shovels, maybe True and a maybe little jumbo if all the kids are struggling at once.

You can disagree all you want. But Gambrell barely cut it as a 4th liner for us this year. Shovels started hot, went from 3C to 4C and to the Cuda where he underperformed. True has never played a single NHL game in his life. Assuming he can play 3C minutes is not really a good idea.

Among all the players you listed, Shovels is the only one I think who has a chance. But I have a feeling PDB views him the same way he views Donkey. Only worse.

Miller may never play again with all of the ailments he had (including breaking his knee cap twice in a month span). Not going to be a team that will trade anything for him. That said, I am on board with a package for a 4th liner and depth D for Braun, although straight draft picks is more likely.

I like it in general, not sure on Miller, I'd maybe just go with a better pick and let some of the youngsters compete for that spot. Could also move Dillon though to save another 2.5M or so and do the same thing. Use that money to shore up the bottom-6 a bit more.

Gambrell never really got a shot, and has consistently performed in the AHL. I think he has the skill, but surrounded by dudes who can't finish. He's for sure penciled in somewhere on the roster next year.
