They've been kind of fluky though, right? I mean it's not like he's pulling muscles left and right. The cervical strain was when someone boarded him and he slammed face-first into the stanchion.
True. I'd just like to see him put a string of healthy games together. The stops and starts aren't ideal for development.

This was the goal that Andersson wasn't credited with an assist. Thats not really a secondary assist, but they are going to start not calling that a secondary assist now? Harsh for Andersson. Its called one almost all the time.

Shame on you! He is Malkin on steroids!:thumbu:

All jokes aside, he does remind me a little bit of him in that he's really good at creating chances with little to no room to work with. He's also built almost identically (6'2" 200lbs vs 6'3" 195lbs), so it's no wonder he kind of looks like him at times.

With that said, Malkin is a future hall-of-famer, so probably best to just wait and see

Really excited for both prospects! Weak draft my ass!

Weak in depth. Top heavy. Look at all the 2018 kids who had strong games today - Kaut, Kern, Zadina, Dahlin, Svechnikov, with more to come. Last year only a handful made it and only Hischier stood out like a stud.

It wont be like 1996 or 1999 but other recent drafts will dwarf 2017 in terms of star power and NHLers produced

Not sure if Lias will be given credit for an assist on the first goal.

Solid day for NYR prospects. 3G 1A credited to the pair of Chytil/Andersson.

I don’t know if it’s in the rulebook, but it has always been said that give and goes nullified the the secondary assist so to speak under IIHF rules. But on almost all cases assists are rewarded anyway. But it’s one of those annoying instances where if it’s missed the first time, it’s not always corrected afterwards. In the NHL that would 100% be an assist.

Of course it was a tongue in cheek comment from me, and I agree with your conclusion though I don’t think your “illustration “ is on point. Weak depth in this draft to me meant less talent beyond the 1st round or so. The draft eligible prospects you listed are bona fide first round talent.

I think its the opposite. Pettersson, Hischier, Chytil, etc are very good players, but they are not McDavid, Eichel, Matthews level, in my opinion, at least. I don't think the 2017 draft has that 1OA type of player, but I think the depth of the 2017 draft is looking much better than initially thought. If you add a McDavid or someone like that to the 2017 draft, its probably a good or better draft.

Did anyone capture that stickhandling move Lias made in the 3rd? Pulled a real show off move.

Lias was definitely very invisible 5 on 5 for long stretches during the first 2/3 of the game. But it wasn’t an easy game, Belarus backed down with 5 guys and the Swedish Ds wanted to hang onto the puck despite having an ocean of ice infront of them so Swedish forwards got very little ice to play on for the first 30-40 minutes.

Lias started to get into good scoring areas as the game went on and rang a great shot of the bar after a FO win by Nylander. He also had a slam dunk bounce over his stick. Could have had a hat trick. He was definitely pissed after not getting any pts early, I really liked to see that hunger to produce from him, and finally he converted on two.

Overall, as always, he shines when he gets chances and open ice. Can do better at getting those chances. Definitely finished off really well in the 3rd.
