So if you have no rooting interest in a game that includes Canada do you root for them because they're neighbors, against them because they're rivals, or not care?

Are there guys on here who wanted Andersson at 7OA on draft day? Because they must of been part of an extreme minority. I'm on board with the kid and I like his game, but he wasn't on my radar that early. I wanted: 1) Vilardi; 2) Tippett, or; 3) trade down a handful of picks and re-evaluate. I hope Lias becomes better than all the guys picked around him, but that doesn't mean I can re-write history.

I don't think it is the point that Lias was a consensus choice at 7OA.

The point is that there has been a lot of unwarranted hysteria after he was picked by many vocal posters here who despise Lias because he wasn't their choice. There have been a lot of reasonable points made explaining the thought process of this selection specifically, as well as why another prospect was not selected instead. But all to no avail as hysteria was reaching new heights almost daily. I'm very happy that it stopped and I understand some light hearted fun poking at Vilardi, Mittelstadt etc. I'm sure it is not meant to disparage these fine young men. ; )

How come? Just curious. I know Russia hacked Christmas and melted the ice caps. But what about Canada?
Canada because of the rivalry. Because of my work I have dozens upon dozens of close Canadian friends; I love the culture, the cities, mostly everything about Canada. But in hockey they can f*** right off.

The Russians, it's the rivalry combined with a whole lot more that I won't get into because it's OT.

Personally I'm hoping either the Czechs or the Swedes win and yes it has everything to do with us drafting Chytil and Andersson.....and after that I don't really care.

Throwback to the last time we had two big talents face each other at the WJC

Russia seems always able to make it to the semis. So, f*** Canada. USA - Sweden for gold, Russia - Czech Republic for bronze.

Fair enough. Pretty inevitable that discussions are gonna get polarized, I probably just caught up on this one a little late.

Gotta agree here. I'll always root for the USA, but watching us have two kids leading the charge to a gold medal on their teams would be really fun to watch.

My thing is a lot if not most of the American and Canadian kids here are at least initially going to be playing against us in the next one, two, three, four, five years--rooting for them would be like rooting for the enemy.

I'm gonna be out of cell service and television reception today/tonight, so here's hoping I come back to reports of duelling hattricks and pages upon pages of heaping praise from a 4-3 shootout win!
