Congratulations to the Canadian people and the referees.
The diving :eek::eek::eek::eek: in the Canadian team deserved nothing.

It's not a rational action perhaps, but humans act irrationally. There are things we care about slightly, and things we care about greatly. For us, hockey is an entertainment outlet or a hobby, maybe even an interest. If you were trying to publish your paper in an academic journal, assuming there was only one germane journal, and you got denied for another paper, you'd probably rip that **** up in the moment. In that case it's not your hobby, it's your life, so it matters to you. Of course, you have it saved on your computer, and Andersson will still be a silver medalist medal or no, but in the moment you'd be understandably upset. Perhaps being proud of what you did, regardless of the result is a rational response (that's debatable), but one could certainly reason oneself to an emotional one.

Why would you throw the medal you worked hard to get? He must have put it all on the line that game and should be proud. Foolish move on his part, I'm sure he regrets it.

If you don't even know about the missed calls and when they even happened, why are you even arguing? For the 1574th time, it's not the Swedish penalties we're arguing here. Do I need to repeat that in caps and bolded?

I have no problems with the loss, it was a coin flip and Sweden had the better toss, they were the better team 5on5 and played excellent PK. Canada got the underdog toss in this game. I'm fine with that, it's hockey. I do however have a problem with the refs sloping the ice like that and having a different book for the teams.

You said the canadian players did the exact same thing as the Swedes and it didnt get called. So again, show me where a canadian player launches himself onto the ice and takes out a Swedish player who is about to have a prime scoring chance.

Show me where a canadian player sticks his but AND LEG out behind him to interfere with a Swedish player.

Or are you backing iffnthat comment that the canadian players did the exact same things and didnt get penalties?

lol.

"Dude our team lacks people that actually CARE about winning" -every fan about their team

Somebody throws their medal NOT to disrespect the opponent but because they're upset about losing and not winning for the country + emotional losing in the finals..

"OMG, wut a gutless pukez! haha salty! Wow what a cry baby, sore loser!!!!!!" -every dumb hockey fan

Quick question...

How many PP goals did Canada get off of all these so-called terrible calls? It must have made the difference with so much complaining, right?

If you by "without discipline" mean Canada got away with pretty much anything while Sweden got penelties for just looking at the girls in the red jersys then yes
that is ridiculous and by no means fits into what i said.

look at the last penalty on Timmins. he got baseball slashed before he got pushed into the boards well after he didnt have the puck.
Watch that and tell me Sweden didn't deserve a penalty.

It show's that they are not captain material. Captains are supposed to motivate and lead a team with dignity and class.
12 year olds are sore losers who lose games. Mentally fragile chokers.
Man show some grace in victory.
Yes your team won but it seems ironic to complain about a players dignity and class in a post that lacks both.

The player that threw the medal was a teenager, what’s your excuse.

wow whats up with the Sweden fans, thought they were all right till I read this, Classless, you lost dont blame the Reffing your Team got outworked, just relax and know you came in 2nd.

I could say the same about Canadians all this "Canadian humility" is just a bunch of bullshit...

As a Canadian I may be biased, sure. But, I don't think the officiating was horrible this game, and it's a pretty common theme every single year around here during the gold medal game that the people cheering for the silver medal team cry up a storm about how they were robbed due to bad calls.

I thought Sweden played really aggressive and pressed right up to the edge of what is legal and what's a penalty. Unfortunately for them, they ran into a ref who wasn't interested in game management. In another situation, maybe some of those penalties are ignored.

He was upset and reacted badly. Let's not overreact to his overreaction.

He was an absolute force for Sweden for tournament, gave it all for that team and was a fitting captain as he led by example.

If he was a true leader he would have given his undisciplined teammates shit instead of throwing a tantrum when he got his medal.

Unprecedented childish display.

I heard the fan threw back his medal and he has it back. Too many people here are overreacting hard to mistake a kid made. Just lost the gold medal game, overreact and threw it away, we all did stupid **** when we were a teenager.

When I was a teenager I wasn't on the verge of being offered millions of dollars to play pro hockey. I guess not only NA hockey culture fosters spoiled brats. Not that it has any merrit but if I was a GM i would be turned off by that much uncontrolled emotion.

I agree that Sweden was, for almost the entire game, more aggressive and harder on the puck.

Such a weird game. Usually Canada is in the role of outworking the other team and being undisciplined. Odd that we basically won with someone else playing our game, if you know what I mean.
I knew Sweden was going to be a challenge due to their strength and speed, but they went overboard on chippy stuff. Canada, meanwhile, learned their lesson about taking penalties when they lost their game to the U.S., precisely because of their undisciplined play.

Basically, Canada learned from their mistakes early on, and evolved.

I understand that the Swedes are disappointed, but their actions after the game are something they are going to regret later. I tend to expect better from the Swedes.
