I don’t see why the “don’t trade within division” should apply here. This isn’t a young talent who’s going to kill you for years. And if you’re gonna trade your captain get him to a team with a legit shot.

Next years 1st and this years 2nd?
From what I heard this years 2d round is comparable to a typical 3rd round...
And especially if trading with a team with a good record

I’m gonna be shocked if they trade Marchy.

Though I will say Sweeneys comments the other day left me feeling slightly more open to the idea that it is actually on the table.

I still think it’s his call and they’ll respect it either way

The only call he should have is what team he wants to play for if there is a choice. Bruins owe him nothing and need to worry about the organization

If they do move Marchand, it’s going to be very interesting in terms of who the next captain is and what this team’s identity is moving forward.

Right now, they have no identity.

If the B's can pull in any first rounders I would prefer they try and get next years 1st over this years as well

You'd have to give it to Pasta no? Who the f else even deserves any letter. Cmac is out.

I think teams will willingly throw away picks from this years draft because it's believed to be so weak. I'm happy to get them down the road over this year

It’s one or the other.

Not even thinking in terms of this season. They’d finish the year with three A’s, I’d imagine.

NHL insider Shayna Goldman of The Athletic, lists division rival Tampa Bay Lightning as a potential trade destination for Marchand if the Bruins trade him.

“What is one thing the Lightning and Marchand have in common? Both failed to get past the Panthers last season. That is who the Lightning are on track to face in Round 1. So, the pesky winger could help address their biggest area of need,” Goldman wrote. “The Lightning’s most pressing need is forward depth. Tampa Bay is a top-heavy team, management can approach it two ways. Shopping on a budget to add quantity over quality or taking a big swing at an all-situation forward such as Marchand.”

Although Goldman thinks the Lightning could look to acquire Marchand, it would be a hard trade to pull off.

“Marchand can elevate the Lightning in any situation; it would just take some creativity to make a deal,” Goldman added. “Either the Bruins would have to retain salary, or a third-party broker would have to get involved. The Lightning’s prospect pool is pretty thin. But the team has two seconds in 2025 (from the Kings and Maple Leafs) and all of its 2026 picks.”
Not interested in those 25 picks
