Wont ever watch another wjc in USA/can. Sweden by far the better team and in my eyes we won the gold this year, don't care what you say. Reffing in this and USA game was absolutely ridiculously bad. Never seen anything like it in hockey. Hope you're happy for a win like this. Useless.
Yea, feels good.

Enjoy silver. You should be used to it by now - you have 11.

Great game, absolutely loved every minute of it and it could have gone either way. Congrats to Canada. There are different ways to lose and this time Sweden really did their best game in the tournament. Should be proud over the effort even if it didnt get them the whole way.

Thanks, it was two real close teams, we all know it could have gone the other way.

I don't really care that he threw the silver. I wouldn't have done the same, but if he feels they got shafted by refs (I don't; the refs were terrible but not the reason Sweden lost) then throwing away the trophy that experience earned him seems like an appropriate emotional response - emphasizing "emotional".

I don't think it's good that he tossed it in the stands but I think people need to take a step back and not judge an 18 year kid in probably his most heart breaking moment. He is young and he will learn to channel it in a mature way.

Canada played great but to hear "Sweden took too many dumb penalties" is just ridiculous. We got the short end of the stick once again. Unfortunately it was one too many against a good team like Canada

I think you have a different definition of "enthusiasm" than everyone else. It also wasn't exactly entertaining.

The guy who caught it, on the other hand...
What you want players to be content with silver medal? One of the best moments of the past few years was when kamenev lost his mind against finland in the finals

Games like this is why I have almost stopped watching hockey. Anyone who isn't lying to themselves has to admit that 6-1 in penalties is not indicative of the play on the ice. Shame that inconsistent reffing has to overshadow the fact that both teams played a really good game.

Might watch again next year but my love of hockey has definitely faded over the years.

Anyway, congratulations Canada!

Penalty minutes

Sweden 22

Canada 2

Steen with 10 min misconduct. Guess he told the refs how useless and biased they were.

Didn't Steen also do something stupid after the semis game? Maybe it's him that's the problem. Maybe it comes from his captains attitude.

Losing sucks, a lot, but lose with dignity. Yelling and screaming won't make it any better.

For everyone who is saying this game was reffed horribly, you are wrong. All of Sweden's penalties were penalties. They missed a bad one when Timmins hooked Petterson. Other than that, anything that was missed was questionable calls both ways.
We all don't want make up calls to ruin games. This time they don't, and we bash them?
There was the most blatant interference call in the entire game, right in front of the refs (maybe it was only a linesman, Finnish Magoo probably checked out the stands or something). A Swedish player chased a loose puck and had never even touched it. A Canadian player backed up and checked him against the boards. Yet when a Canadian player touched the puck and starts chasing it and is checked against the boards, it was deemed a penalty 2 minutes after. Just lol.

Anyway, it was a great game and it was unfortunate for Sweden they didn't win, they played the better game and deserved the win more. But that's hockey. It's fine.

When you play a middling OHL Dman who is not a great skater over a guy who has been top 4 on the best team in the SHL for a month (and was top 4 in all the pre-tourney games and over summer)...
Well he is never gonna play another important tournament for Sweden so atleast there is that.

Sweden did a good job of getting pucks on net at times but they deserved all of their penalties. You can play well but still commit fouls. It's how the game works lol!!!!!

We need to hire a Canadian coach to help us refine the dive. Not once did a Swedish player take a dive to draw a penalty despite the obvious compensation opportunities because of the lopsided distribution of penalties.

All kidding aside, Sweden played on of their best games in recent years and really layed it all out on the ice.

Canada got the win and they have a great team as usual. It's just sad that the once proud non-diving nation has become a nation of cheaters.
Need some cheese with that whine.Maybe Needs a Canadian coach to teach their players not to take stupid penalties.

It shows he has no respect for the game. He's the captain of the team and should show some class. He's 19, not 4.
It's not a rational action perhaps, but humans act irrationally. There are things we care about slightly, and things we care about greatly. For us, hockey is an entertainment outlet or a hobby, maybe even an interest. If you were trying to publish your paper in an academic journal, assuming there was only one germane journal, and you got denied for another paper, you'd probably rip that shit up in the moment. In that case it's not your hobby, it's your life, so it matters to you. Of course, you have it saved on your computer, and Andersson will still be a silver medalist medal or no, but in the moment you'd be understandably upset. Perhaps being proud of what you did, regardless of the result is a rational response (that's debatable), but one could certainly reason oneself to an emotional one.

Steen who probably should have been suspended yesterday.

So of all those minutes there are 2 that were even remotely debatable. Most consequential reffing error was the quick whistle, if we are trying to tally things up (not really a useful exercise).
