Trading Galchenyuk for a 1st rounder is such a bad management of your assets. Guy is not even 25 yet, why would they trade him, hes pretty much going to be in his prime when new prospects are going to be up to compete.

Has this management ever shown to either care about asset management, prime years or long term planning ?

It's a question I pondered because my feeling from everything we've seen/heard now is that he's likely on the block. It's not an appreciation of the player, from how he played down the stretch he's poised for a good season. It's a legitimate question as to whether you'd rather trade him for a high pick vs what you expect Bergy to get for him.

Meh I dont think Bergy is THAT stupid. Or at least, hes learning from his mistakes.

If you want Kotkaniemi, I wouldn't trade anywhere below the 5th pick. After that, it really gets dicey.

I think they should just take him at #3. Otherwise does Ottawa trade out of #4, especially when they don't have their first next year? Detroit or Chicago jump up, take Kotkaniemi and we look like tools...again.

Yeah sign me up for a trade down with the Yotes if we get Merkley or Domi in the deal (maybe with a small plus on our side). We'd still get Kotka as others said and people would stop freaking out about passing on Zadina.

I wouldn't. If that happened, which I doubt, just take Dobson.

I just can't see any team other than us seriously considering taking Kotkaniemi before the 5th pick. But, I've been wrong before.

We won a draft lottery and end up picking a guy that we could have probably had if we didn't win in the first place. I want another asset if we're passing on Zadina, who I would honestly just rather take at 3. But that's me, and I'm not in charge.

While the Center group this year is pretty much NIL at the top, I actually like the depth of the group in the 15-45 range. If say we were picking in our usual division winning/playoff sucking position of 25th, there would be a lot of guys we'd be interested in. Really hoping a couple of them fall to our early 2nds. I know Veleno gets ripped on this board, but I would absolutely take him in round 2.

Well yeah Veleno is absolute value in the second, but he wont.

Damn, this ranking is -very- different from others.

Kravtsov at 6, Boqvist 11, Bokk and Kaut 13-14, Lundkvist 16, Beaudin and Marchenko 25-26

And, Albin Eriksson 28 ?

He's one of those I'm hoping for with our late 2nd picks , or with our 3rd, but late 1st ?

Edit: And Veleno not even there

Again, Kotkaniemi and Dobson have done nothing but increase their stock the last few months. Tkachuk peaked at the WJC but didn’t do anything since. Why should he be 3rd?
Because that's not how scouts think. Tkachuk is a heck of a prospect, despite what posters here think. If Zadina goes 3, I imagine Tkachuk goes 4 to Ottawa and he's going to be a thorn in our side for a decade

Dellendrea is mixed.. scouts have him between late first to third. Some people loved his interviews, others didn't like them. Wildcard.

Quotables on SDA are not good. Main issues are his skating for his size. A bunch of quotes said he and no Pete's were on their lists.
