You're right. Clearly we need more Dylan McIlraths, Marc Staal, Michael Del Zotto's, Dan Blackburns, and Jamie Lundmarks (our last 5 Canadian players picked in the 1st round)

Why are you shitting on Staal and Blackburn?

Staal was an excellent pick who has played 845 games. The only player after him in the 1st round I'd take over him is Rask (who isn't Canadian and wouldn't fit your narrative, anyway).

Blackburn was injured in a freak injury and may very well be the starting goalie today instead of Hank if he wasn't (or he is traded for some nice picks).

Comments like yours make me realize we have a ton of guys on here who didn't watch the Rangers in the early 2000s (or even before 2012 or so).

I'm not shitting on them. Those were our last 5 picks in the 1st round. 2 outright busts, 1 freak injury, 1 disappointment, and Marc Staal. Our CHL drafting has been abysmal for years and our US drafting has been somewhere between decent and meh. Saying "we keep drafting Euros high" is especially silly since prior to 2017 we'd drafted just 2 higher than the 3rd round since the 2004 draft. Anisimov carved out a decent career, and Cherepanov was Cherepanov.

If you aren't shitting on them, then what are you using them for as examples? Unless freak injuries can't happen to Euros, it makes no sense otherwise.

Cherepanov literally died. Should we not take any other Russians in the first round because the last Russian we took in the first before Kravtsov died?

Also, odd to not include Pavel Brendl in the list for CHL (your last post mentioned the CHL) drafting if we're including Lundmark. Why is that fat, lazy (European) bum not added in there?

you’re the own embarrassing yourself by talking about voiding contracts. Did I say we should void his contract or did I say he should go back to the KHl? We signed him he’s ours. If he’s not ready go back and work on your maturity.

this isn’t the NHL he’s struggling with. He’s barely surviving the AHL right now. That’s a joke for a kid as good as he is. He’s a KHL all star. To be playing in the A like he has is ridiculous. And he probably is the first one to tell you he knows it.
If he s still playing this way/not showing major improvement by Thanksgiving then I can somewhat see where your coming from.... but ffs it’s been 3-4 games.... your over reacting just a bit man... and from all accounts this weekend he’s already starting to show some signs of life. He’s way to skilled and coachable for this to continue much longer.

Because, if you read the post I was initially replying to, he is European. Eliteprospects listed Lundmark as Canadian, Brendl as Czech. So I included Lundmark, but not Brendl. I always thought Lundmark was Swedish myself based off the name, but i haven't been watching hockey nearly that long.

By all accounts he's looked a lot better the last couple of games. Good to hear.

Even Del Zotto has put together a better career than most 1st rounders.

I’m sorry but I’m not impressed with looking slightly better and actually worthy of the AHL when you’re considered one of the top prospects in the world and a KHL all star. That is flat out unacceptable. He should be doing what Chytil is doing down there.

if he were struggling at the NHL level that’s one thing. For him to struggle at the AHL with his talent is flat out on him. He’s way too good for that bullshit. I would sit him too. Until he shows he wants to act like a pro. He IS a pro hockey player. He did not come out of juniors. He’s sulking and it’s unacceptable. Go be the best player on the ice like you should be. I’d honestly give him till the end of the month to start dominating. Not hanging in the A. Dominating the A. If not I’d seriously consider telling him to go home till February and come back when he’s mature enough to handle real pro hockey.

Dude relax. He’s not even 20 years old and one if the youngest players in the league. He’s played a total of 5 games in North America in a smaller rink with quicker players. By all accounts he’s been getting better each game. Sometimes there is an adjustment period.

I couldn’t be more relaxed. But if it were an adjustment thing they wouldn’t be benching him. It’s an attitude thing. He’s way too good to be struggling at that level. Sorry but it’s in his head. He needs to get his shit together. He’s a professional sure he’s young but so is Chytil. He’s a pro he knows better. This is his third year of pro hockey. He put in a ton of work all summer like a pro because he knows better.

He’s sulking clear as day. And it looks like management knows it and isn’t treating him like a baby as you are here. They’re demanding more as they should. This performance so far is a joke for a talent like that.

“real pro hockey”, not like the KHL isn’t the second best league in the world

well you’re making my point for me then aren’t you. 2 years in the K and an all star. What he’s doing at the AHL level is a joke right now. Should be dominating it

1. He did good in the K but it’s not like he dominated, 21 points is great for his age on an offensively inept team but it’s not like he was a Ppg player
2. It’s been 5 games, and supposedly (I can’t say I haven’t watched) he’s been improving. Give it some time for him to adjust

It's almost as if he's a 19 year old kid in a new country that is adjusting to a new coach, new teammates, and a new system of play

I feel a lot of people either ignore or simply don't know this aspect of European prospects coming over. I moved to South Africa when I was 22, and that was a really difficult change for me. You leave family, friends and everything you know, behind. You move to a country where they speak a different language, have different customs. Everything is different. All that impacts your day. How you wake up, how you go about your day. It's not just something you get used to overnight.

And that's just the daily life. Work (hockey) where you get used to new colleagues (teammates) and a company (team) with completely different rules and habits... It's a big change
