That's an embarrassing display by the ref on that shift.

McAvoy hits a forechecker who doesn't have the puck and then seconds later misses a blatant trip.

You will not see 2 more blatant penalties.

I guess Dean Lombardi heavy hockey isn’t dead. Physical teams like BJs, Caps, and Bruins manhandling the “skilled” and “fast” teams.

It also helps having players who can skate and hit. Do the Kings have players capable of doing both?

Oh and they also have some talent too. I know, hard to believe that a team with the right balance could succeed.

Why does the NHL allow crap like what just happened in Flames game? If Compher takes a late poke then by all means rough him up. But he's standing there outside of the blue paint and gets hit by 4 different Flames players, including the goaltender and Fanta who came from outside the original scrum to tackle him into the back of the goal.

Should be a penalty 100% of the time.

Kadri has to be suspended for that ****, dirty ****ing punk

This series is going to be a blood bath, the officials completely lost control of tonight's game. I said it on the main boards. It might be the worst officiated game I've seen since in a sports game since the Lakers/Kings 2002. It wasn't that bad (I doubt anything will ever touch that), but oh boy was it ugly.

None of those teams neglected skill like DL did.

That is the difference.

On top of that, AlphaBravo must have overlooked what happened to the Kings in 2016 as well. That Dean Lombardi/Darryl Sutter built team didn't seem to fare very well against the Sharks, and against other Pacific Division teams. But let's just forget that ever happened.

Or the 2016 World Cup.

Justin Abdelkader and Ryan Callahan (in 2016!) in a best vs. best tournament.

Dean could find success again taking over a team like Edmonton with in-house skilled players, but he simply had zero idea how to scout, draft and develop skilled forwards.

True. We need a mix of physicality and skill. Teams that get bounced from the playoffs because of a lack of grit may push hard for a player like Clifford. Unfortunately, the Kings are not trading him. Another reason why MacD needs to be in our lineup.
