I'm fine with Vegas knocking out the Sharks, I just would like to see Colorado do to Vegas what they just did to the Flames.

Not surprised by Winnipeg and Nashville being on the brink of elimination. Most of my brackets are busted thanks to top seeds being knocked out, but I had the Blues and Stars prevailing given the fact that they were playing what felt like playoff hockey before the playoffs officially started.

It just goes to show you how quickly things turn. The Predators and the Jets were the future of the Western Conference just a few seasons ago. Jets are about done and Nashville is teetering on the edge after getting to the SCF 2 seasons ago. When you get that window to truly contend, you better cash in because in a flash it's closed on you. The Ducks had their window and couldn't sniff it. Thank goodness the Kings took advantage of having their best and most balanced rosters ever. Imagine how much more bitter the fans here would be if we didn't have a Cup celebration to show for it all.

There are ways to extend it though. Takes some luck and great roster construction. Look at Washington.

Washington and Pittsburgh are great examples. But the one thing they both have in common is having drafted the two greatest forwards of this generation and the Pens got f'ing Malkin too. That can cover up a multitude of sins. Woulda been nice to draft first overall this season but oh well.

It’s a shame that this is the only playoff series we’d get to witness Paul Coffey in a Kings uniform. Coffey actually led the Kings in playoff goals that year with 4 in 6, and tied for the team lead in points with 7 in 6 (along with Gretzky and Luc).
