Just going thru the Avs roster on hockeydb - granted some of their best players are top 5 picks - they also have some really good players who were picked 10th overall in the first round and also a few players drafted in the second round. Some of the guys are from other teams via trade, but they seem to spot good young players in the middle of the first round and in the second and third rounds. Kings used to be good at this as well, when we kept the picks.

Kings need to take note. Instead of trading a 1st rounder like Pearson for what ended up being a third round pick.
