2018-19 Stanley Cup Playoffs part III: Final 4

I don't know which hit pissed me off more, Schenn or Marchand. Schenn's killed all STL momentum and Marchand's was intent to injure and I wish the NHL would take knee shots more serious.

Pretty crazy where the Bruins are, considering all their mistakes. They didn't give a bad contract to Eriksson, but then turned right around and gave that bad contract to Backes. 3 consecutive picks in 2015, with a chance to draft Barzal, Connor, and Chabot. They managed to get one decent contributing player out of the 3 picks, none of the 3 mentioned. Then 3 of their top 4 forwards are all over 30. Not that that part is a mistake necessarily.

They can waste $6m on a 34/35 year old Backes, and you don't even think about it. You're thinking about him being the first guy to touch the Cup instead. That's amazing in a hard cap league. Part of the reason for that, is the points per dollar they get out of Marchand. As incredible as it is to not feel Backes, they simply could not have timed Marchand's contract any better.

You can make mistakes in a hard cap league, but you have got to hit the jackpot in other areas to make up the difference. Find Pastrnak at 25, 4 picks ahead of Kempe. There's almost nobody within 10 picks of Pastrnak in either direction that is even close to him. McAvoy at 14, and again, almost nobody within 10 picks in either direction that you would even consider trading him for.

Can't imagine what it would have felt like if the Kings hadn't put New Jersey away in Game 6 in 2012.

Would have been worse, IMO. Would have meant the Kings blew a 3-0 series lead.

I remember thinking that at the time. “How quintessentially Kings to dominate all through the playoffs, go up 3-0 in the Finals, then become the first team in hockey history to get reverse swept in the Finals.”

I remember every pundit after Game 5 in New Jersey being asked, "What happens in Game 6?" Every single one of them that I can remember said the Kings would close it out, because they were the superior team. That was somewhat reassuring, but I must say I didn't feel comfortable until Lewis scored into the empty net to make it 5-1.

Not gonna lie, as soon as they went up 3-0 on that major, I couldn’t help but feel like that was it. No matter how poorly the team played after that, I had faith in Quick to hold the door.

yup, was celebration mood from that point on. Quick set how many records that post season? I think GAA, SP and SO.

Game 4, I went to a pub with a bunch of friends and dressed everyone up in king's jerseys. They lost
Game 5, I had everyone over to my place expecting to celebrate. They Lost
Game 6, I watched by myself with wife over skype as she was out of town on business. They won and I got floor licking drunk by myself. haha

Seriously, this game is a coin flip. Either team could win, could be a OT game or blowout.

Oh my.

That's a Kings 2012-14 goal. Amazing what a forecheck can do.

2-0 on a great move. Honestly, the Blues are setting up a classic Blues choke job here.

Woah, 2-0? Had to leave the room when it was 1-0. Almost all the time the better team wins game 7 but right now Binnington is the best player on the ice. Boston really couldn't do a whole lot more than they already did that period.
