I think they're still paying him. It's called Bryzy day in Philly every OCT 1st, like Bobby Bonilla day in NY, July 1st.

Yup...he's being paid thru 2027....Snyder at his best... Snyder said they 'had to move' Richards and Carter to pay for Bryz. Which isn't true, they could have moved Hartnell among others, if it was just about $$ as he tried to defend that awful move.

Carter was on the trade block for 2 years, that was not a surprise. Richards got moved because Snyder and Lavvy (esp Lavvy) wanted Pronger to be Captain. Pronger is one of the few players I actually hated, truly despised. A mean player who intentionally injured other players and employed bully tactics in the locker room, fractured every one he played for, including the flyers. Was happy to see him off the team.

And as long as Snyder's boy, Homer is running things, his shadow lurks, and so do the poor decisions.

Congrats to the Blues. Gotta admit, I thought they were gonna be competing for 1OA pick back in January, but somehow they disappeared from the race to the bottom, got their shit together and made playoffs. Now they're champions. Definitely a cooler story than Boston winning :)

Blues played 26 games. Every series went a minimum of 6.

Another interesting thought.. What did Carter and Richards say to each other in 2012? Do we still not know?

Fans don't give a **** about how good he has been for the owners and most fans side with the players in labor disputes. Gary is the figurehead of an entire lost season and two half seasons. It's easy to understand why he is hated: plus he looks like a weasel.

No, he's not. The NHLPA is responsible for every lockout.

.... fans are stupid.

BigKing can probably clarify, but I think you and him are both right, even if unintentionally.

Bettman is the figurehead of the lockouts because fans are stupid. The owners had all the power.

Plus big market fans hate the cap, because Toronto and New York can't try to buy another cup.

But Toronto was never able to buy the Cup anyway. lol Toronto would want six teams again.

You can blame the NHL and owners for not marketing their teams well enough which is why the NHL gets D list celebs to their events and random bands.

The problem is the NHLPA

I'm not arguing that he is: I'm merely stating why he is hated still.

Fans side with players over owners, for the most part. He is the figurehead of the owners. Under his watch, there has cumulatively been two entire regular seasons lost and one playoffs.

Fans don't like that. And yes: fans are stupid. Look at us caring so much about this joke franchise for the majority of our lives!

You open a box of crayons that says "FANS" on it and there are a lot of shades of gray and black.

Yes, Bettman represents the owners and part of his job is to guide them toward a consensus. The owners like those expansion fees.

I don't think the NHL expands to the extent it has without cost certainty, and the players only getting 50% of the revenue.
