I had a Boston/Calgary Final with the Bruins winning the Cup; St. Louis making the WCF.

I was close enough.

It's officially the offseason!

Oh, there’s a lot more the Kings can’t do, like pass, defend, kill penalties, be a threat on the power play...

I just find it funny that yet again, a number of Flyers move on to find success elsewhere, with Brayden Schenn also winning the Cup in addition to Berube, similar to what we witnessed with Richards and Carter.

Some of that is a river full of poor decisions for years by Homer, esp in the goaltending area. (and another poor decision in hiring Fletcher, who then made a poor one in hiring the coach}). IMO as long as Homer is sitting in a chair in the front office, the Flyers will not have success. You don't reward a horrible GM by promoting him.

But players on teams get traded and win elsewhere, not unique to the Flyers.

Schenn won because he was on the blues, the would have won w/o him. He is not irreplaceable.

That was one of the reasons I wanted the Blues to win. Taylor deserves a Cup ring and his name etched on the Cup. He deserves a huge credit for the Kings' Cup wins by giving Lombardi a solid foundation to start with.

Can someone post the pic or video of Taylor with the cup?

I still don't get why fans boo Bettman. The hatred of the man seems extra high on the east coast and in Canada.

The man has been commissioner since 1993, and oversaw what I consider to be the best years of the NHL. Without the owners and Bettman, the NHL is a league where the big markets just buy all the star players. Trying to figure out what your GM might do next, because there is a salary cap, has become another element of the game fans can follow with extreme interest.

Meh, dunno about that. I think he was a pretty important component to their run but, we can agree to disagree.

There were people here and on the main board who were convinced that Richards was such a passenger in 2012 that the Kings would've won anyway with Schenn and Simmonds instead. That's just moronic hating, I'm sorry.

Bettman is one of the most successful sports commissioners of all time. He took a niche winter sport and expanded it to the southernmost coasts of the US. The NHL will never be as big as the NBA, MLB, or NFL, but it’s a huge accomplishment that people even use the term “Big Four” instead of “Big Three.”

And yes, the hard salary cap is a huge boon for the NHL. The modern NBA is a total joke with the same 2-3 legitimately competitive teams year in and year out.

Alot of bad takes on this player. Whether it's downplaying the trade and role in 2012 when he was very important 2nd line player or overstating role in 2014 when he was probably the worst player on the team.

Bettman spearheaded getting rid of "old time hockey" and I believe those in traditional hockey markets feel he favors the non-traditional markets because they need to succeed. To make the game more enticing to these non-traditional markets, those that hate him feel like he has softened and monkeyed with the game.

Fans don't give a shit about how good he has been for the owners and most fans side with the players in labor disputes. Gary is the figurehead of an entire lost season and two half seasons. It's easy to understand why he is hated: plus he looks like a weasel.

But they won in '14 with him. He also did these key things:

- Used his face to break Couture's hand in Game 6.
- Made the play for Gaborik's GTG in Game 1 against Anaheim.

If they have a better player there, maybe it doesn't matter but we will never know. Lose Game 1 of that Anaheim series though and they probably don't win the Cup.

That being said, he should have been told "thank you" after the parade and been bought out: no question about it.
