perhaps they mean in the actual rating. A 2.8 vs a 3.4 seems pretty different. I think the only thing I was really surprised about the public opinion was the drafting. Unless I'm forgetting someone the Kings have 15 players that they drafted and developed on their roster.

It shows me more that a lot of folks don't really watch the Kings, as expected from being on the west coast. There aren't many teams that do a better job of drafting and developing, almost the entire core was drafted ffs. I can see the perception on cap management, even though Brown's contract doesn't look terrible any longer and Gaborik is gone. Their cap situation is actually above average right now and is getting better. To be honest, it's kind of unfair to ask about roster building and vision to a general fan. I couldn't tell you the vision and goals of most other teams to be sure, I wouldn't even know how to answer.

Is it wrong to think that the media's narrative that the Kings are the slowest team in the league is way off? That's all you ever hear along with can't score, yet they were middle of the pack as far as goals scored, ahead of Lumbus, Dallas , Anaheim,St. Louis and the McDavid Oilers.

The media and general public seems to be about 2 years behind on accurate opinions of the Kings at all times.

When the Kings went to 3 straight WCFs and won 2 cups, teams around the league tried to copy the kings heavy team model.

Just win the cup and let the rest of the NHL copy the kings again.

Here's hoping everyone is sleeping on the kings.

This team is interesting. LA has some great young prospects that I am very excited about (Kempe, Vilardi, Clague top the list for me), however alos have a lot of older vets with big contracts in key roles. Will be interesting to see how the team gels together.

The Ducks have done nothing but stockpile prospects and never improved under their GM since Burke left.
The Ducks have an internal salary cap which doesn't allow their GM to pull the trigger on any moves at the deadline which might put them over the top. It's too late now with their current core to get the remaining pieces to their puzzle.

They are going to have to spend fairly close to the cap to even keep their team together. Kase and Ritchie are going to get decent deals, Silfverberg is in his last year, Gibson is up after this, and Miller will be UFA. They'll save a bit with Miller, but that's about it. Kesler would have to retire to give them flexibility.

Hopefully Kempe builds on his first full season and can establish himself as a well rounded center who can put the puck in the net. Like Kopi-lite.

Noticed 9 of his 16 goals were against Eastern Conference teams. I think as the rest of the NHL (the Western Side) begins the process of speed and finesse, Kempe is going to get more chance. + Kempe, being young with room to mature, the potential is their. Another I thing that came to mind was if he was a winger, he would be up the ice more often and would have a better jump on the opponents Defense.

Like kid, not only is he fast but like the lay body more often than I thought.

Agreed. The Ducks boxed themselves in with the contracts to Perry and Getzlaf which don't expire until each of them is 36 years of age. Kesler's contract runs until he is 37 years old. The Ducks are a fringe playoff team and they aren't winning anything anytime soon.

The best thing the Ducks can hope for with Kesler is putting his on the long-term disabled list. He isn't going to retire and walk away from his base salary of $6.675M over each of the next four seasons.

As I recall Roenick scored in his first game as a King against Dallas. It was all downhill from there.

I wouldn't call it a mistake by Taylor. He didn't give anything up. JR was free to acquire so DT took a chance on him. Had Palffy re-signed I don't think this move gets made.

Roenick made a fool of himself here. Dancing like an idiot. Showing up completely out of shape. Falling down constantly and blaming it on how his skates were sharpened.
