I'm the other way around. Yes to Brown and no to Gaborik. I think Gaborik is going to retire early from injuries and Brown will play out his contract so it would be better to trade Brown. Gaborik would be an easier buyout and if not a better chance to end up on LTIR.

Brown is slightly overpaid. Gaborik can't even drag his carcass onto the ice for 50% of the season.

So if this team fails the make the playoffs again, that's gotta be it for this roster, right? A main piece would have to be out the door

Gaborik and Brown are getting too much attention. The absolutely dreadful pipeline is what's causing so many issues. If you have some ELC talent you can deal with Brown's hit and Gaborik on LTIR.

Carter is the most logical piece with the most value to move if you think one of your picks can step into that role in the next couple years. Kopitar is untradeable, Quick is more valuable here than gone, and Doughty will bolt. At that point the entire show is over.

I'm thinking that'll be dealt with sufficiently when the time comes. But if it makes you feel better NOW, how about this?

To: LA Kings

James Neal

To: Vegas Knights

Dustin Brown
LA's 1st round pick in 2018
LA's 2nd round pick in 2019
Clague OR Moverare

Vegas gets their long-term captain and we get cap relief beginning summer of 2018. Is it a deal?

:yo:

Oh great. Trading more assets for a rental. Did we not learn from the Lucic trade?

The Sekera and Lucic trades further depleting the pipeline is absolutely killing this franchise. When you have guys making elite money, you absolutely must have guys who can contribute on ELC's

I'd love to buy out Gaborik, but the $$$ doesn't make any sense. The worst is yet to come and peaks when Doughty will need a new contract, might as well LTIR.

And there is your goaltender Darcy Kuemper was signed 1 year 650k . Hopefully he's better than Zatkoff

Myeh whatever then. Rooting for Campbell to get the back up position.

Stevens most likely will be fired, and someone like Carter will be traded probably.

Which is why people are going to be shocked that Stevens (will have little patience for errors just like Sutter). Stevens has to win games.

I agree Pens won with a defense corps worse than ours and they won back to back . Chicago brings up Hartman and Schmaltz and they deliver give them the opportunity to perform. Bolts with Point and many others they give the kids a shot so I'm ok with our bottom 6 as is. I just wish Clifford and Nolan aren't guaranteed spots I want Cliffy gone his money can be used elsewhere. Iaffalo,Kempe,Brodzinski can bring some hunger and skill that is needed into the bottom 6 and they say Iaffalo has elite speed

There wasn't much out there for Blake to take a swing at.

The big hole that will plague the Kings and lose some games is at 3C.

Dowd is just not a good 5v5 player, Shore will have to step up big.

It's July 1 for ***** sake the day most GM's make massive mistakes. Teams are not built through free agency.

The biggest fish went to the Rangers for a lot of money and they have no center.

Our rivals signed a soon to be 31 year old to an 8 year extension at Doughty money.

The best forward was re-signed by Washington before free agency hit for ridiculous money and term.

Our rivals kept Jumbo Joe who some coveted but is turning 38, scored 7 goals and tore up his knee

What did some of you expect ? Who did you honestly want and for how much were you willing to sacrifice?

We did well.

An experienced young backup for $650
A big right shot young defenseman that is a solid 3rd pairing guy for $850
And a gamble on a winger that should help our PP and knows the city and some teammates for a Mil

I don't think Blake is done. He has a new coach that will install a new system and has already layer out expectations. We have a full season of Quick and we should see some others rebound.

We had a wicked draft and signed some great prospects thus far.

Blake and Co is starting to restock the cupboards and now has money and some depth to bring in another player if needed after the season starts. I am happy to see how the kids respond to extra minutes. Let's see what we have in Kempe and co.

It's like we are balancing on a teeter totter to see if we are contenders or pretenders. If it looks like we have a chance at least we have the cap space to facilitate a trade.

With Greene being bought out I still believe Blake has something up his sleeve

SJ actually got a good deal on Vlasic (cap hit is what Phaneuf got) Vlasic is way better than Phaneuf.

Vlasic is extremely underrated.

The deal they screwed up was giving Burns his contract. Burns generates a lot of offense. But Vlasic is Doughty lite for keeping pucks out of the net.

So wait, if I'm not mistaken, don't we have 1 too many goalies at the moment?

Quick-Kings
Campbell/Kuemper-Kings/Reign
Zatkoff-Reign
Peterson-Reign

I wouldn't think Peterson would've signed with us just to be sent to ECHL either. Zatkoff buyout coming?

I would think so. In fact, any asset over 30 with any value should be traded if possible.

no transaction today would make a difference if the Kings don't get more from their top players. All in all I think signings today were smart depth deals...

Agree totally. On top of that gaborik just floats the other 50 percent. He's a shell of the playoff gaborik who stuck his nose around the net.

Oh most definitely, if they fail again this season, this team would be hitting Event Horizon.

Offensive system = less grinding = more useful gaborik, hopefully.

Pens won last year with outstanding goaltending and a top 9 (even the 4th was good) that nobody could match. Kings don't have that. And this year, the Preds lost ,more than the Pens won. Preds dominated 8 of the first 9 periods and should have been up 3-0 or at least 2-1. Losing RJ killed any shot they had, you can't win without strength down the middle. Had they had a better 2C/3C, things might have been different. Props to the Pens , winning the cup isn't easy but they had (IMO) a path that was not as difficult.
Preds are going to be much better next year, and I don't think they're done yet. Trading for Emelin to me is a signal that they might be putting a package together for Duchene.

Luc and Blake have done well so far, given the hand they were dealt. Rome wasn't built in a day. They didn't need another aging 30 something vet on a 1 yr deal. For what? If they make a trade, from what rumors were around in march, they wanted a young top 6 winger /forward, a non rental. They still might, a trade might happen before oct.

As for Gabby, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, I think Sutter didn't like him and that (according to Iginla from his Calgary days) wears thin on a lot of players, that abrasiveness. He's got his pride and I'm sure under a new coach, he'll have a more positive spirit, it does make a difference.

I give Stevens say 50 games then he gets Canned. Just a feeling.

Yep. One more year in the black hole, and Blake blows it up. As he should. Carter and Doughty should be traded for huge hauls. One of Gaborik or Brown will be bought out. Kopitar will be dangled and traded if anyone is willing to take him. Quick will likely play out his contract.

Team should be full on youth movement from there. We have some decent pieces now in Vilardi, JAD, Ladue, and Amadio. Enough to start building around, plus whatever blue chippers we get from Doughty and Carter trades (like Marner).
