Lmao!!
Not that I believe it.. But if true, we're on to Plan Z

Surely you're joking?

Surely I'm not?

I love Doughty. I don't want to see him traded. But if the team doesn't improve, it's time to rebuild. He will have one more year on his contract. Trade him to a contender (like Toronto) for a massive haul of assets that will jumpstart the rebuild.

K17 has made these points pretty succinctly in several threads over the past few weeks.

Yakupov could be a good gamble on like a 1yr $700 k. He's only 23 has speed and potential. Just has to put it together.

I thought that too, when he went from Edmonton to St Louis and he failed there . Not every elite junior player converts to NHL top caliber. But for 1 yr, minimum money, I'd risk it. Worse case if he sucks, he goes to Ontario.

23 years old and has wheels. I'd sign him no doubt. Something under 1 million.

I also wanted Schultz when many said he was terrible. Look how that turned out.

Edmonton was a cancerous organization with no leadership on or off the ice. Doesn't surprise me they ruined his potential.

I would take a flyer on Yakupov. He could beat out Cammalleri for a roster spot quite easily.

He is also only 23 years of age, which means he was born in 1994. At his time, the Kings youngest forwards on the NHL roster were born in 1992.

Blake has basically said that, unless anything drastically changes, this is the team that'll be going into training camp. We've never been big UFA players, probably for over 10 years now (since Lombardi took over). The kings have tried, for sure, but it has never materialized. I don't expect that to change now. Not saying Yakupov is a big fish but I really don't see it happening. I do like the fit, though.

Wait! So I've been saying for awhile now that we should sign Yakupov because he's a young skilled winger that will come free and cheap (), but have been told no way should LA do that he's a bust. And now that we are actually in on him; it's ok if he signs with us because we can use his skill and potential. I'll never get this board! So far left and so far right

He was actually born in 1993, but who's counting? :)

You actually believe Eklund? And your idea was mocked because of the suggestion of thrusting him on the top line with Kopitar. Yakupov still has to prove he even belongs in the NHL.

At this point he's looking like a guy who has to swallow his pride and prove what he's capable of in the AHL and he has to find his game. Yakupov as an NHLer has no identity. You can't define the type of player he is because he hasn't shown what he is capable of.

Friggin' Devin Setoguchi outscored Yakupov last season. Would you like to have Setoguchi back, playing on the top line with Kopitar? He did produce more goals and points than Yakupov, so it would make sense, right?

It's almost as if this hockey board doesn't have a singular conscience and there are different people posting here with different opinions. Shocking!

Ouch.

Is Dean STILL running the show on the FA front and is Yak the Dumpster Dive deal of the day?

If we're doing a Russian reclamation project, I'd be far more interested in taking a chance on Grigorenko than Yakupov.

Agree.

Grig has been in two terrible environments. Sometimes you've gotta get a guy out of that before he develops.

Grigorenko has size and has showed some defensive acumen. He was 58% on faceoffs last year. Amazingly, his -14 rating was one of the best on the team for anyone that's played significant time (Landeskog -25, Duchene -34).

If anyone takes him on as a project they should try and groom him into a 3rd line center.

Meh on Yakupov. Sure it is a low risk, high reward type of move, but he is a long shot at any reward and probably wouldn't be easy to deal with. Doubt he wants to come here and play in the AHL and work his way back up.

They're doing a deal on Russians at the moment, buy one, get one free. May as well get them both, if they can't beat out Shore/ Dowd or Cammy/(insert random old player) then throw them on waivers.

With Marleau signing in ronto, one of their fans mentioned that Bozak could be moved. Any interest if the price was right? He's great on draws, with a bit of offense too.

Martinez and a 2nd in 2018 for JVR...

Van Riemsdyk-Kopitar-Brodzinski
Pearson-Carter-Toffoli
Kempe-Cammalleri-Brown
Clifford-Dowd-Lewis
Nolan/Shore

Forbort-Doughty
Muzzin-LaDue
Gravel/MacDermid/Fantenberg-Folin

only if JVR comes with him, which won't happen unless they're out of the race come trade deadline (which I highly doubt would be the case.)

damn, what's their cap now? How can they sign their youth to contracts?
and finally, they are not going to be able to afford DD now. lol
