This reclamation guy, he gets it. It's hard to say this team will be the same as last year when the play style is shifting drastically. There's a real possibility those players who struggled offensively last year, will likely produce more this year.

Please don't feed the chimps.

Martinez and a 2nd in 2018 for JVR...

Van Riemsdyk-Kopitar-Brodzinski
Pearson-Carter-Toffoli
Kempe-Cammalleri-Brown
Clifford-Dowd-Lewis
Nolan/Shore

Forbort-Doughty
Muzzin-LaDue
Gravel/MacDermid/Fantenberg-Folin

You're assuming Gaborik is on LTIR?

That 3rd D pair.... a little light on experience..

I'm to the point where I'd send out offers to both Prokhorkin and Dergachyov .... we have the cap space to offer a 1-2 year deal to both and finally see what we have.... at worse they bust and they leave back to the KHL or they prove to be worth all the hype and become parts of the future or valuable assets...

1.5 Million for an AHL player? Weird.

Rent in Toronto is expensive.

Maybe they figure it's a guaranteed way for him to clear waivers when he is sent down. I think they envision him as the captain for the Marlies. Handing out that type of deal is peanuts for them.

Capitals traded Marcus Johansson to the Devils for a 2nd and 3rd rd picks. Kings could of done that easily.

Johansson is soft as Charmin, and this team is already too soft.

And what? Marleau at 6.5 and Thornton at 8? Holy mole. People just throwing money around. I can only imagine what some players would be making if there was no cap.

Both are under contract with their KHL clubs for a couple more seasons. Should honestly just forget about them

Dergachyov only has one more year on his deal in the KHL. After that he can come of to N.A. and play in the AHL.

Hopefully that's what he does because there's a lot to like about him. It would be a pay cut for him, but if he wants to play in the NHL eventually that's what he's gotta do.

I'm not giving up hope on him just yet.

With the nostalgia of Cammy coming back I would want the Black and Purple to return! I know not happening but would be sweet. Wasn't Palffy still playing in Europe till like two seasons ago or something?

For the life of me I still do not understand the Greene buy out. Even if you do not have a place for him in the line up he did not have a NMC. So he could have been put in the minors and cost like $1.6M for only one year. Now we have an $800K hit for two years. Seeing as how it doesn't look like the kings will be right up against the cap. I would rather spend the extra $800K this year to be done the deal one year sooner.

Any chance Voynov comes back for next season or the one after... or ever?

There seems to be some smoke but there are a lot of visible hurdles to clear. Chance, yeah.

Same, I'm holding out hope, but he's losing/lost prime development years, needs to be over here ASAP and maybe can be a late bloomer. Such a shame he's just rotting.

2017-2018 season? No chance.

1) Voynov is under KHL contract for the 2017-2018 season and he would have to get out of that first since there is a no poaching contracted players agreement betwenn the KHL and the NHL. Any buyout would have to be from Voynov's own money and not from the kings - otherwise it counts towards his cap hit.

2) Voynov is likely under an immigration entry ban. ICE tried to deport him so the normal response for someone that leaves before the conclusion of deportation proceedings is an entry ban. 5 years at a minimum. It probably would be 10 if he stayed until the conclusion. He can apply for a waiver but a waiver takes 6 months. To make training camp, he would have had to apply for a waiver by early march at the absolute latest. See #3.

But that doesn't include time to apply for a work visa. Due to his past criminal history, such an application would take longer than normal. The kings would be the ones submitting an application for it. Such application would take roughly 3 months. It can't be done at the same time as #1.

3) Additionally, if voynov wanted to be paid, he would want to be able to have #1 settled before the start of free agency. We've seen teams use up most of their free cap space in just the first couple days. If Voynov wants to be available at the start of free agency, he would have to apply in 2016.

Time since he left is a factor in granting a waiver along with seriousness of the crime. Domestic violence is incredibly serious. 2016 is barely a year since he left. ICE would probably say HELL NO!

Does his time away from the club count against the years on his contract? Or would we still have the term that we had on him when he left?

Thanks for the breakdown on the process, Stimpy. It actually doesn't seem too lofty an expectation, given that I believe he'd have a better chance at gaining a reentry visa than your "ordinary" criminal due to his job and economic status once he gets back in the states. The time is ~9 months if the application process can't be run concurrently. Not that long.

Seems like they should start the reentry process now, while he's playing his last year on his KHL contract.

Tanner Pearson - Jeff Carter - Tyler Toffoli

Marian Gaborik - Adrian Kempe - Johny Brodzinski

Derek Forbort - Drew Doughty

Jake Muzzin - Paul LaDue

Alec Martinez - Christian Folin

Jack Campbell/Darcy Kuemper

Better team than we had last year in my opinion.

Meanwhile a number of west conference teams got significantly better. We will be very hard pressed to be a playoff team without any other players added.
