Yep. One more year in the black hole, and Blake blows it up. As he should. Carter and Doughty should be traded for huge hauls. One of Gaborik or Brown will be bought out. Kopitar will be dangled and traded if anyone is willing to take him. Quick will likely play out his contract.

Team should be full on youth movement from there. We have some decent pieces now in Vilardi, JAD, Ladue, and Amadio. Enough to start building around, plus whatever blue chippers we get from Doughty and Carter trades (like Marner).

If they trade Carter and Doughty why buy out Brown and Gabby? Your going to be **** for a few years while you retune the roster so you can carry those guys as fillers.

Offensive system = less grinding = more useful gaborik, hopefully.

Gaborik doesn't play a grinding style, the one time he did play Sutter hockey(did what Sutter told him to do) he scored 14 goals in a playoff run.

Surely you're joking?

Shattenkirk signs with the New York Ranjuhs because he wants to be on a winner. Meanwhile they just traded their best center who is constantly peddled as a 1C, but is really a 2B. Have fun with that!

are we hoping for another signing or a trade or something? this can't be it can it?

we really need another capable winger

Cammalleri & Gaborik will get injured sooner than later

We are taking the best parts of both and getting a full seaon out of Gaballeri.

Michael Cammalleri - Anze Kopitar - Dustin Brown

Tanner Pearson - Jeff Carter - Tyler Toffoli

Marian Gaborik - Adrian Kempe - Johny Brodzinski

Kyle Clifford - Nick Shore - Trevor Lewis

*Nic Dowd, Jordan Nolan

Derek Forbort - Drew Doughty

Jake Muzzin - Paul LaDue

Alec Martinez - Christian Folin

*Oscar Fantenberg

Jonathan Quick

Jack Campbell/Darcy Kuemper

Better team than we had last year in my opinion.

no, realistically we need another top 6 winger

gab & cam will be combined for 1 winger (and gab is a 3rd liner at this stage of his career btw) and brown isn't a genuine top 6 player either

we need one more guy to balance things out better

we need a James Neal type of player or Radulov

so i'm hoping we're doing more, crossing my fingers

hard for me to believe this team, as a constant cap team, goes into a make or break season with what, $7M in space..

i mean i got nothing against these signings really but i feel like there's got to be improvements available?

So many questions entering next season -

Kopitar - This entire team goes through him, does he rebound or have another disappointing season? I don't know, but if he doesn't this team is done. Enough of his talk, deliver.

Brown - Does he build off of last season and improve under Stevens? I think he will.

Gaborik - Can he regain his health? I don't think so.

Cammalleri - Can he stay healthy? I don't think so. He hasn't played a full season in almost 10 years. Still worth the risk though. Should be an easy 10-15 goals.

Pearson and Toffoli - Can both these two find another gear and put together a complete season? I think they will.

Doughty - Can he find is Olympic level offense under new management? I think he will.

Forbort - Can he take the next step and solidify himself as Doughty's partner? I think he will.

LaDue - Not fair to single him out because he's still a rookie, but it will be interesting to see what he can do.

Gravel - Time to step up or step aside. He needs to start delivering or else he'll be out of a job.

Martinez and Muzzin - Will these two rebound? I think they will, especially Muzzin.

Folin - Can he work his way onto this roster?

Quick - No doubt he'll have a massive chip on his shoulder and be ready to dominate. Biggest competitor on this team by far. I'm expecting a Vezina caliber season.

Coaching Staff - Lots of fresh blood which makes them hungry. I feel good about a fresh approach after a stagnant last few years. I'm not expecting huge changes, but fresh voices will do wonders especially given the estranged relationship many of these players had with Sutter.

Blake - I like his approach so far. He's let things play out without intervening too much. He didn't package our first to get rid of Brown, he didn't get creative at the draft, he didn't sign a free agent to some albatross contract, he didn't trade for a rental, etc. He kept it very simple, which many say is experience and a weakness, but it's welcome after the disastrous last few years. The Kings have arguably the worst prospect pool in the NHL and this draft added some great pieces. Factor in the free agent signings and things are starting to look better.

This team is a complete enigma. I could see them breaking 100 points, but I could also see them getting eliminated by Calgary with two weeks to go. I just want to see some energy and hard work. Last season was unwatchable.

This reclamation guy, he gets it. It's hard to say this team will be the same as last year when the play style is shifting drastically. There's a real possibility those players who struggled offensively last year, will likely produce more this year.

I don't think we can draw any conclusions about how some of the guys will perform next season until we see the impact of the new coaches/system. I have hopes a guy like Gaborik can have a mini-revival in this situation.

RP gives a good assessment of where the team is at this point in time. I am more bearish as I believe our aging players will not bounce back all the way to their former selves.

I think Jonathan Quick is the heart and soul of this team now, but he is more susceptible to injuries at this point in his career, and one has to wonder when the next one will occur.

Looking forward to seeing what kind of leadership and fire Doughty brings this season. The Kings can't afford to have him sit back and cover for his partner. He has to bring a more dynamic offensive game to the fore this coming season.

The Kings potential top line right now scored 36 goals combined last season. So we're hoping on a potential triple bounce back campaign from the top 3 players plus a double bounce back from Minus Forever Martinez and Muzzin. Not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4 but 5 bounce backs?

Yes, and if they don't bounce back, we all have to commit ritual suicide.

Yeah right

For Ontario maybe.

I don't think that's much less likely than their five sudden regressions were, no? K17 may be right in that age is a factor too, but I don't think it's a stretch to say that almost everyone underperformed last year, and I don't think they all suddenly faced downturns in their careers.
