Kevin Dallman is on of the greatest defensemen in KHL history. Are Dallman's 50+ point seasons the equivalent of scoring 100pts in the NHL?

If Fantenberg comes in here and is even good enough to be a quality bottom pairing defenseman that would be fantastic, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

touche. point taken. scout Ruutu and Yanetti had good things to say about Fantenberg...smart, strong on his skates, sees the ice well, moves the puck very fast, sees his options, defends well..and Futa went there twice this year to see him.

Just pointing out there are posts of lineups that have Macdermid and Trotman and leave Fantenberg out...he left good options to play in the KHL and SHL and I'm sure
he's not planning on playing in Ontario, AHL. Not that he won't...

So, what you're saying is........?

Forbort / Doughty

Martinez / LaDue

Fantenberg / Gravel

.....trade Muzzin? To hell with McNabb?? I like it!!! :handclap:

I know he's a rental and all but I wouldn't mind seeing James Neal on the team. I'd prefer him over Kane/JVR.

Neal has one year remaining on a deal with an AAV of $5M. He will be 30 years old when his contract expires.

I would guess Nashville will be looking to re-sign him this summer, but much will depend on the length of contract he is seeking. Anything over 3 or 4 years would be a mistake.

The Kings don't need another guy on the wing in this age group.

If the Kings want to deal with Nashville, I think they should be looking more along the lines of Carter for Fiala/Gaudreau/Scissons + a prospect like Trenin + Saros. That's where I would like to see the Kings start discussions with a team like Nashville.

This obviously won't happen until the potential of the current roster is fully understood by management.

Kings are in salary dump mode at this point. They have 6 forwards making a large chunk of money now. Kopitar, Carter, Gaborik, Brown, Toffoli and Pearson. That doesn't include Lewis and Clifford who are each at 2 million and 1.6 million. One of these guys has to go.

Kings need to get younger up front and clear some spots for guys like Kempe, Mersch, Brods, and possibly Auger.

Trading or buying out Gaborik or Brown and dealing a D for a young forward would drastically change the look of this team.

Muzzin + 2nd round pick isn't getting you Landeskog. More like LaDue + 1st + more

I would deal Muzzin and Kempe for Landeskog, but I would start with the Muzzin + a pick and work from there.

My impression was that the Kings brass was very high on Ladue. I doubt he gets traded.

The Ladue + 1st + more for Landeskog doesn't work from a cap point of view. Colorado would have to retain a ton of Landeskog's salary for the Kings to fit him in.

maybe we could target a kid on a ELC like say Mike McCarron from MTL???

Alec Martinez for say Mike McCarron, Wash 2017 2nd rounder and Chi 2018 2nd rounder??? or maybe both 2018 2nd rounders since MTL has their own plus Chi and Wash..... Mike could be an ideal 3C or 3W

I'd be pretty surprised if the Kings didn't have around $4-5 million in cap space after signing their RFA's. Andreoff, Shore, Gravel, LaDue, Brodzinski need new deals. All 5 will sign for under a million (Andreoff and Shore well under a million). Backup goalie will be around $1.5 million. Cap increase + player taken by Vegas will give them additional cap space. I'm guessing the cap will increase around $2-2.5 million. Lewis or McNabb gets taken and that's another $2 million or $1.7 million. Need more cap space? Bury Greene in the minors or trade Clifford.

I don't think Colorado takes Muzzin because he's older. Not old but older. I think they'll target someone younger like Carlo, Vatanen, Trouba, etc. Muzzin may be the bets of the group right now but Colorado is a few years away from contending still.

and thats where I think our dilemma is.... Muzzin and Amart are valuable to a contender but teams that are rebuilding want youth and financial flexibility.... our targets need to be PO teams who want to shore up their defense like a MTL, EDM, BOS... Maybe even a team like Philly ...

There is no future left to mortgage. Kings have made it plain with the Toffoli and Pearson contracts -- 3 years left to go for it. If Blake wants to win a cup he has to overpay with picks/prospects to make the team better. Starting right now.

Kings will of course be at or near the bottom of the standings after those 3 years but so what? It will accelerate the inevitable rebuild.

Turning into the Detroit of recent years is an awful option.

Agree. If we go for it and fail, I'm ok with that. But it will be intolerable to go back to the purple times especially when we have Doughty.

No to either, Flyers not a playoff team and overloaded with d. Ghost could be moved (due to Sanheim's progress, same skill set, bigger player) to get a top 6 forward. Which is the asking price, as part of a package, for Droiun, Duchene.
D is something they don't need.

Boston isn't a contender either but the Habs and Oilers would do well to upgrade. Bit of a problem is that the wild, ducks also have surplus d to unload. Buyer's market.

That's not what the Av's want, DL tried that last year. They want a 'top young d'

No to JVR. I would however have interest in Connor Brown, good wheels, can put the puck in the net and has a pretty strong hockey IQ. Also like a couple guys on the Marlies such as Bibeau/Sparks and Leipsic.

Depending on the Kings moving either Muzzin or AMart and potential interest on the Leafs end, I would try to framework a deal around the Leafs names I mentioned for either defenseman.

I'm big on Nylander. I would deal Muzzin for him. Kid has a bright future, had a coming out party this season. Don't know the interest level the Leafs would have to deal him at this point in time.

Can't see them moving him, he's a big part of their future and Muzzin wouldn't do it.

Ive been wanting those Haps picks for the 2018 draft for about a year...

I would love to do Amart for McCarron and 2 of those 3 2018 2nd rounders..

we could either restock our system over the next two seasons or offer a package of picks not including our 1st to VGK to take Gabby...

Gabby, 2017 3rd-4th-5th picks ( we have 2-4th, 2-5th) or keep the 3rd and offer a 2nd in 18'...plus a million in retained salary for this season...

I am open to trading one of Muzzin/Martinez. But it has to be the right deal.

Not only that but it leaves a hole in the defense. Some of the pairings being tossed out there after such a deal really make me nervous. A 2nd year guy should not be paired with a rookie.

Forbort is a 2nd year player. Gravel is barely 2nd year. LaDue has played 22 games and the cutoff is 25. He is still a rookie. Fantenberg is a rookie.

The defense after a Muzzin/Martinez trade is really inexperienced.

A trade of Amart could open up $3+ mill in cap space if we target a ELC contract and picks as I've mentioned above... Everything Blake and Co do will have to have deals in place to improve our team...

just some crap i came up with but say MTL who desperately needs a Dman is willing to offer a prospect and 2 of 3 2018 2nd rounders.. you have do it, considering its a much deeper draft and those assets can help in other areas...
Those other areas would be enticing VGK to take Gabby for a package of players and picks plus retained salary.... Say Gabby, McNabb 2017 3rd, 4th(we have 2), 5th(we have 2) and $1 million retained for this season ( grants them financial flexibility) and we get a conditional pick like Col did with the Iginla trade (meaning we dont get anything)....

close to $10 mill off the books on top of what we have currently, McCarron for the 3C spot, and we'd still have a nice atonement of picks

2017- 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th , 6th
2018- 1st, 2nd, 2nd(Chi), 2nd(Wash), 3rd, 4th, 4th(Mtl), 5th, 6th

You could then go for a MDZ and a Vanek to fill out the roster... maybe even Bonino
Vanek - Kopitar - Toffoli
Pearson - Carter - Brown
Kempe - Bonino - Brodzinski
Lewis - McCarron - Nolan
Send KC to the AHL

Forbort - Doughty
Muzzin - LaDue
Gravel - MDZ
Fantenberg

Quick
Campbell

I agree. If the Kings are going to deal with Toronto for either Marner or Nylander, we know what it is going to take on our side.

If it comes to pass the Kings should get Marner +, or Nylander +.

I would think that Luc and Blake are as well. Esp with Friedman mentioning that the Habs are interested in moving g Galchenyuk. Granted he's been rather streaky, but he was used more at wing than center and didn't like that. Could be also, without the pressure that was on him in a friendlier environment, back at center, he'd thrive. Also, his contract is up and they might not want to sign him. Brisson , his agent, said they would not be opposed to a 1 yr deal and as of a few days ago, no talks between the 2 sides.

Not that TO fans opinions mean anything since they aren't the GM, but most of them are of the thought that Carter isn't a fit for them now since they aren't close enough yet.

If you mean Doughty....woah boy.
