5 roster spots for our RFAs should average $1 million or less. That should leave us around $4 million plus whatever the cap goes up for that last spot. $6 million or so for a UFA.

Edit: John beat me to it.

It basically looks something like this:

FORWARDS (13)
Right wing: D. Brown ($5,875,000) - T. Toffoli ($4,600,000) - J. Brodzinski ($874,125) - J. Nolan ($950,000)
Centre: A. Kopitar ($10,000,000) - J. Carter ($5,272,727) - N. Dowd ($640,000) - N. Shore ($1,000,000)
Left wing: T. Pearson ($3,750,000) - M. Gaborik ($4,875,000) - A. Kempe ($894,167) - K. Clifford ($1,600,000) - A. Andreoff ($660,000)

DEFENSE (7)

I am starting to think Gravel doesn't play much next season. I think Fantenberg is going to make the roster, Kings also could sign a solid Vet Defender to step in/out of the lineup.

If I ever have a son who is an NHL prospect they will be signing with McNabb or Clifford's agent.

Brown, Gaborik, Clifford, McNabb-that's a lot of money for a whole lot of nothing. There's no way Blake returns the same roster from last season. Messages need to be sent to players who have become expensive passengers.

Gravel is clearly better than McNabb. If Fantenberg replaces anyone it should be McNabb.

I absolutely agree with this. I expect Gravel to be even better this season. He has a full year experience at this level, and he seems like the type to really have the drive to be better.

Watching him on the ice he is aware of the situation and was good at telling his teammates who to pick up, coverage holes, etc. I see him becoming a leader as his experience grows.

Add a $6M winger and this looks like a contender to me. :sarcasm:

Maybe we can make a deal with Vegas. Vatanen for 11th OA. I'm sure Ducks fans will love that.

Muzzin/Doughty
Forbort/Vatanen
Fatenberg/Martinez

Which McNabb are we talking about? In the groove McNabb who looks like a top 4 or coming back from injury McNabb who looks like a number 7?

Most forget how good he looked with Doughty for a year and a half, better than Forbort did last year. It's hard to say which is the real McNabb though because his injury threw a wrench in things.

That's why I would rather lose Lewis, on the off-chance we get the better version of McNabb, the blue line looks solid with Doughty, Forbort, Muzzin, Martinez, Gravel, LaDue and McNabb. (in whatever pairs you prefer)

He showed a lot of good signs when he initially got here. That's why I said in the other thread that if I was Vegas I'd take McNabb over Lewis because at least McNabb has some upside.

That said, I don't think the injury can be blamed that much for how bad he was last year. He was making poor decisions.

I thought Forbort was significantly better last year than anything we have ever seen out of McNabb. No doubt the organization thinks so as well, otherwise he would have been protected.

McNabb had a streak where he was playing extremely well. putting up great possession numbers while playing a heavy game. He actually was putting up points steadily. Not to mention Doughty played much better with him than he did with Forbort.

I expect more than 4 points and an even rating over the last 37 games playing with Doughty. That's a lot of minutes. Forbort played lights out for his first couple weeks then dropped off sharply.

And I think if Forbort was making 1.6M, it would have been a much harder decision. Bottom line is both of them are #4 guys at best on a good team.

I would hope Vegas passes on McNabb and takes Lewis.

I like the leadership Lewis provides, but McNabb is the player that has more value going forward.

McNabb has never looked that good. At best, tolerable. Poor work ethic to boot. Can't kill penalties. Forbort has blown way past McNabb.

Kings have a Charmin blue line without McNabb.

Nobody ever takes into account physical play from defenders on here, at least not many posters. Matt Greene in his prime was awesome yet he still got **** on during that time.

McNabb was brutal during the home stretch where the Kings fell off a cliff. He looked pretty damn good to start the season though before the injury. The hit he put on Sharp was unbelievable.

He has value and I'd prefer not to lose him for nothing. If he is selected, I hope MacDermid is able to step in because the defense is soft.
