Oh, I know. I like the ranking. More reasonable than what I've seen before

Thanks :) Second half of the 1st round will probably change quite a bit before i feel happy about it but i thought i'd show it here to get some feedback anyways.

Will likely be some changes higher up aswell but not too many.

Middlestadt is way too low on that list.

As i said, i might be underrating USHL but i'm concerned about Mittelstadt and it has almost nothing to do with his poor Combine.
His 5v5 production has been very lackluster in the USHL and that's a big worry for me, same reason why Rasmussen isn't even close to the 1st round for me.
I think 5v5 production per 60 is a very good tool to see how a players scoring translates to the next level.
Obviously it's not perfect and when it comes to Mittelstadt we're running on a pretty small sample in USHL so we'll see, but it's worrying for me.

So is Necas, IMO. Both should go top-10.

Necas was pretty bad at the Five Nations and not great at U-18 WJC either, i'm not impressed with him. I'll dig into his club season a bit more though, he might rise a bit, not top 10 though for me.

Go read Steve's post on Middlestadt a ways back in this thread. It explains him perfectly.

What were his 5v5 splits in the USHL? He was well over a ppg there, which is a really good sign for a kid his age.

I know Steve's opinion on Mittelstadt and i respect it, i do not agree however :)

He had 11 5v5 points in 24 games, which lands him ranked #64 in the USHL in 5v5 PPG, that's why i'm concerned and have dropped him.

Edit: As i said, it's a small sample but it's enough to worry me since i value 5v5 production quite highly.
He's pretty close to being as low in 5v5 production as Rasmussen, different leagues though but still.

I was using that Draftwire tool that has been floating around

In the mock I did, all the defensemen I wanted were gone (save for Timmins, he was there). I traded the 21st pick to Vancouver for the 32nd, the 56th, and the 64th

I was hoping Timmins would drop to the 32nd, but he went at 31st (go figure)

I ended up drafting Yamamoto @ 32, Lipanov @ 56 and Reedy @ 64

Not bad, but I think the team needs a RHD defenseman

Great selections!! Would be very happy with those forwards!! :handclap:

That's pretty good, only thing I'd say is Valiardi is the 3rd forward taken.

Smaller sample size, but a big RH shooting C that can score isn't going to slip past a lot of teams.

Makar is the top D imo, I only saw clips, but every western scout raves about him.

Mock top 5:

Patrick
Nico
Makar
Valiardi
Heiskanen

then you have the free for all starting.

That 3rd slot will be interesting, DAL needs NHL bodies. Some teams with top ten picks want to move up.... and they want Valiardi.

I think there is a lot of hype with Middlestat, but he's a Sam Bennet imo...

Think it's kinda bonkers to have Tolvanen and Tippett that low, the only high skilled goal scoring wingers in this draft along with Kostin, guess Yamamoto can count too but he's more of a playmaker, the first 3 all have decent size too.
This draft is extremely deep on C, especially two-way/playmaking C, but it lacks in goalscoring in general, Tolvanen and Tippett both are very good goalscorers, think they go early.

I'd love it if they dropped to NYR though, haven't mentioned them when we talk potential NYR picks because i just can't see them drop to us, but if they do then i'd be happy to have either.

It's a shame they can't get the combine Heights and weights, Kostin is like 25 lbs heavier !

But not a bad list by Redline. Rasmussen continues to be ranked too high based on his size, one dimensional player who happens to be 6'6. If Ostap Safin were Canadian would he be a top ten pick ? I'll give Rasmussen this, he makes the most out of his opportunities and he always has a stick on the ice and has good hands for a bit of a stiff player.

Vesalainen is a good prospect, little too high here. Robertson, i like him, but not over the next 9 players on that list. Ratcliffe on the other hand seems to be spot on, mid 20s, though im sure someone could take him in the teens.

i like all the stuff woodlief does. he's usually pretty spot on. knows his stuff

lias andersson maybe available when we step up ? :amazed:

yes please. the exact kind of smart, high character, pp and pk solid 2 way pivot, who can flat out snipe it, we really need. love love this kids overall game.
