i have no idea how student athletes do it. I did Computer and Electrical Engineering at Rutgers...not exactly Harvard...and I felt like I spent all day every day hitting the books...how do people find time to practice, hit the gym, travel, play games...

Really makes you appreciate Tanner Glass tbh...went to an ivy league school, and made the NHL...hate him or not, thats friggin impressive.

The majors taken by most athletes are not typically at the level of Engineering (of any kind). Tanner was a history major. I love his major and think it's cool...but he ain't no engineer. Most athletes don't major in anything that involves problem-solving and whatnot. Tanner is no exception to that rule.

John Scott was an engineering major. Guy wasn't just a plug. He had brains.

Has to be, academic requirements for athletes at most institutions is much lower than it would be for a regular student.

Its not like he didn't get cleared by Harvard.

My brother got offered for Harvard football. Most schools do drop the GPA requirement a bit.. But Harvard did not.

FWIW, i got Waitlisted and then rejected from BC this past year with a 3.7 gpa in a top 75 High School in the country, itching on 2000/2400 on the SAT and a decent amount of APs and Recommendations. Their Undergrad Business school is top 5 in the country. For a kid who is id assume primarily focused on his hockey career i wouldnt be so hard on him for not getting into what is considered an elite non-IVY school

NCAA minimum requirements for athletes is a 2.0 GPA in core classes (for HS students, same is usually required in order to stay eligible once you get into school, but that varies.)

These standards don't apply for all schools (Stanford is notorious for being a tough school for student athletes to get admitted into, the Ivys have different requirements as well) but this is more or less standard for every other school, BU and BC included.
