I think people forgot how important Jeff Carter is to this team because of the success we initially had after his injury. The moment Carter went down, I knew that this team has to basically survive and try to be in a playoff spot come next year February. Fortunately, we stockpiled so many points at the beginning of the season that we are remarkably still in first place. We likely will fall from first place within a couple of days, but we just need to keep on fighting until Carter is back. With Carter back, this will be a whole different team and with different line combinations that will be far more productive.

Voynov in the 6th game for the whole year. Quick in the 1st game for about 75% of the season. Carter in the 6th game for about half the year, if he comes back on Feb 1st. They've had to basically survive a lot over the last few years. Most of the time they haven't.

Kings to send injured Vilardi back to OHL - Article - TSN
Kings general manager Rob Blake said on Nov. 11 Vilardi had begun skating and TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie reports the team will soon return the 11th overall pick in June's draft to the OHL's Windsor Spitfires.
McKenzie reports the 18-year-old centre is two-to-four weeks away from returning to game action. He scored 29 goals and posted 61 points in 49 games with the Spitfires last season.

Ah, ol' wraparounds. I remember being one of Frolov's biggest supporters around here, but yeah, those last couple seasons it became real hard to defend keeping him around.

He was one of my favorite Kings during those rough years after Allison and Deadmarsh disappeared, young Frolov, prior to his groin injuries, was strong as hell on the puck, a bit Jagr like the way he would hang onto the puck and thwart off defenders.

Sadly, he was not the same player in his last few years and lost that knack for being one of the tougher players to defend against.

Back then Frolov, Cammalleri, Aulin, Grebeshkov and Lehoux were considered to be the future of this team, and they also had Brown, Boyle, Tambellini, Steckel, Pushkarev and Jens Karlsson all in the pipeline. The 2003-2004 years were trying. Funny how much we hung our hope on those names, and the lone player still around is Brown, while the rest traveled around quite a bit, and only two others are currently active NHLers. Oof.

Every fan base hangs their hope on those kinds of guys. Then 3, 4, maybe 5 fan bases at a time get lucky to have their team luck out with enough of those lottery tickets.

Good to know he’s close to coming back. I’m very interested to see how he does with this year’s up tempo play.

Has there been any word on Carts? I think he’s still always off, but wondered if anything has been said or rumored.

February is the target date, I believe.

Yeah I bummed that we let him go, he's my favorite player. Glad to see he's found some success in the KHL though.

Well the main trade boards still suck...

To get Draisaitl, they want...

Kopitar @ 50% retention + Toffoli.

To get Tyson Barrie, it will cost...

Martinez+Vilardi+2018 1st+2019 1st

There is no hope to make the Kings better :(
