Niagara Icedogs 2024-25 Season Thread, Part IV

Yeah, its not happening. There were so many fb and twitter posts of people stating they were NOT renewing. In a panic, the IceDogs deleted them all and shut down the comment section.
 
OK, someone help me. I have searched the name but found nothing hockey about CAPUTO.

What is he and is this just another DDhire that he can work through? The last thing you needed was a rookie GM

I agree.

However, the organization is a gong show from top to bottom. A lot of the environment was created by the players.

If still DD has the ability to hire and fire, which he himself said he has…. What has changed? This guy from Windsor might be great, I hope he is. But, if DD feels as though he’s not listening to him, he”ll be gone just like the last few.

No leadership from the league. None from the owner, GM, front office or the players.

Some people were concerned DD was going to move the Dogs to Brantford before the Bulldogs moved there. With the arena lease it was never going to happen. But, boy I wonder how many people would drive them to the city limits now.

The OHL would have a new team in Niagara in no time.

Tell me in what world does a player rubbing his bare balls on a staff member regarded as ‘a little issue’ and just needed ‘more attention to detail!

They’ve had so many new coaches they don’t have someone to really keep them in check. Lots of turmoil isn’t great for anyone let alone teen boys who are going through lots of changes themselves. (Secondary school/post secondary/puberty/potential jobs/potential girlfriends/will I get drafted or not etc)

They need some old school coach to keep them under control someone like Troy Mann and establish a new culture with the ice dogs. I heard Luca Caputi (old fronts coach) used to let the fronts go on phones in dressing room and stuff like that. Troy comes in and establishes some rules- some players may not like it but it gets them to focus solely on hockey and enough of the BS.

Just one little thing but it stems to something bigger. With the right habits and someone to keep them in line I don’t think you’d have so many problems with them.

And I’m sure there’s a lot of other examples where coaches can help these young men but I don’t feel like writing a book on it.
 
I think we are missing the biggest point or at least covering it with the rug.

THE OHL said that they were stepping in to clean up the team. (at least that was the impression si got here There has been nothing official from the OHL))

If Caputo is in fact the GM, the only Caputo I see online is a guy who ran a podcast and some MM company called AGM Armchair.

A search of hockey DB and Elite shows no hockey experience at all of this person.

He will run a team and pick a coach on their experience or knowledge. If that is the criterion, then I would suggest that @OMG67 or @OHL4Life would be better qualified.

YOu now have an owner that the league has cuckedup to and given carte blanche to do as he sees fit.

You have a GM who probably can't find his Assets when it comes to hokcey.

You have no coach who has any respect, and to be honest, the only coach I can see taking the job is Caputi or someone like him.

You have players who have a discipline problem, although we are not sure who they are or what the issue is. Also, we do not know how many players. It isn't like the league is helping.


And people here are worried about season tickets.

I am still waiting form @Sam14 or some of you others to tell me why this is a great hire and how it is going to make the SS called the icedogs better.

I am sorry but if I was an agent for any opf the young guns I would be talking to the USHL to see where I can get them playing. I realize the OHL is a better league but that means someone has to make a trade and I do not see a GM being able to do that.

Caputo is not the GM. He is a fanboy that hosts a podcast. He just waves Pom Pom’s snd says everything s ok.

In his latest podcast, he suggests the Dogs troubles are merely paper cuts. I guess alleged sexual assault and trashing a movie theatre being covered up equates to just a paper cut.

Not sure why you think he’s the next GM.

misread this post and it did not seem that wild considering the people involved.

So we are still in the same crap poointof othing happening. If a new GM was contacting players we wouldknow about it someone would have posted

I think this team is gong to lose a lot of it's star power.

Actually DD hiring a podcaster for the GM position is something he would do. And that is really sad.

Think about the ridiculousness of this statement:
“…we just want the IceDogs to be the premier organization in the OHL. Michelle and I are committed to make sure that we are number one.”


In three seasons, DD has driven this franchise to rock bottom embarrassment and he truly believes he can take this franchise to number one and surpass every team including London to become the OHL’s premier organization (on a shoestring budget).

Something seriously wrong with him.
