Problem is the game is progressing, youth is taking over, the next generation is developing ridiculous talent.
Russia keeps going to the same players never giving it's youth a chance.
Canada is one of the youngest teams here, and so are most of the top nations.
There's so much young talent in Russia, playing and developing, the next generation is coming as well, have to give a chance to new players.
Averin, Apalkov, Andronov...
Znarok's list of candidates was sorted carefully
Somewhere in the end were Yakupov, Zaripov, Semin, but coaches didn't read to the end![]()
Zaripov was a rightful omission IMO, he was carried by the old man all season long. It's insanity that Znorok didn't keep Gusev-Shipachyov-Dadonov together, as well a Zaripov-Mozyakin combo.

It's insanity that Znorok didn't keep Gusev-Shipachyov-Dadonov together, as well a Zaripov-Mozyakin combo. That would free up Panarin to play with Datsyuk and (health permitting) Radulov. Right there is 3 respectable lines; and that's without any later NHL additions. He could have his favorite grinders on the 4th.
But hey, who needs talent when we have Telegin, Plotnikov, Shirokov,etc.![]()
It looks like Russia is finishing 2nd in your group. The Czechs seem to have 1st locked up with wins over Russia and Sweden.
Hopefully Russia finishes 2nd, the Czechs will lose in the Quarters or Semis to the Americans/Finns. Leaving Russia as the highest seed.
We need a Canada versus Russia final. We shouldn't play each other in the Quarters or Semis.
We need to play for Gold. It can't be any other way, especially on Russian soil in Moscow. The hockey world needs a rematch of last year to settle it after you left the ice on us in 2015.
I know Russia and Russian fans have more pride and honour than what happened in leaving the ice early last year. No matter what happens, hopefully you respect Canada as much as we respect you.
Normally it is
A1 vs B4
B2 vs A3
and on the other side
B1 vs A4
A2 vs B3
So if you want to meet us in the final, you have to lose against Finland
Or we have to lose against Sweden
absolutely. No matter what happens, hopefully you respect Canada as much as we respect you.
absolutely.
yesturday i said to your coach that yeah im from Russia but Canada has an amazing atacking lines so no one another teams hasnt a chance. he answered hopefully yes )))
Our D is quite green...
Russia will probably have the best team when their reinforcements arrive ...Ovechkin Kuznetsov Orlov Tarasenko maybe...
Russia needs ALL the veteran star power / NHL reinforcements they can muster. Most of their top youngsters stick around to play at 19, in the World Juniors, ours don't.
A Canadian U24 A-team would probably spank its Russian equivalent silly...Ditto Yank and Suomi U24 teams
***
Hmmm...I meant that Suomi and Yankee young gunz would also spank Russia's U24s. Wasn't clear there...
What we need is competent administration and decisions based not on favouritism but hard headed pragmatism as in the old days. You see an issue and you rectify it as with the netminding issue. With all the money ploughed into a few high prestige rinks it might be better developing the grass roots more.
Give kids subsidies to play, improve talent identification and get the best coaches in. Something that happened at the old Ice/Sport/Chess Palaces. The loss of coaching talent over the last twenty years has been appalling over a range of sports and it's no coincidence that our rivals in other disciplines have benefited enormously from it.
You missed his point completely! He wasn't talking about how great Canada is or isn't. What he was saying is that there are younger guys like Buchnevich and Golyshev who are making a big impression in the KHL who weren't selected in favor of older guys like Plotnikov and Burmistrov who Znarok is in his comfort zone with. Its a very valid point in my opinion.
Hmmm...What can I tell u? Thick Russian accent hard to understand![]()
What I can tell you is that you sound like you don't know who the U24 Russians are.
