I have one ****in question is this losers really all the best players that russia can put up without NHLers?
Well said! And there is no doubt that Canada is the gold standard in hockey. If you aim for the top, you are aiming at Canada.
One thing is for sure though how come Russia with such a tremendous sports history and great coaching all around can't get decent coaching for hockey for so long?
Not at all. Just a coach who hasn't understood that he is not coaching dynamo Moscow. Pretty much as Billy

Despite the loss, plenty of positive things to note: Panarin is trying to be a leader there, Datsyuk is at least good, Lyubimov and Marchenko were very solid, some decent stuff also from Telegin and Burmistrov.
I totally didn't like Shirokov though, also Chudinov shouldn't have taken that penalty in the first.
Panarin is by far the best player. I agree with above guy though, should have brought Gusev, Golyshev or Buchnevich. Too much mediocrity in Shirokov, Telegin, Lyubimov and Plotnikov (dead weight). Well, this should spell the end of Znaroks. Maybe Vorobiev is next in line, or god forbid keenan.
Very good question! This tournament is just beginning, so maybe there will be improvement, but the question that you raise about the RHF, and whether enough is being done to develop talent in the country, is clearly the right question. Among the remaining 8 teams in the Stanley Cup playoffs, there aren't that many Russians still in, so why is it, out of a population base of 145 million, that there aren't more talented and capable players available to be picked from?
I think, overall, Tretiak has been slow to bring about the growth and improvement to recover from the 1990's. The number of rinks remains the lowest per capita, by a big margin, among the top 8 hockey nations. The level of coaching continues to be low, which helps to explain why the defense continues to be a big problem year after year. Tretiak is a legend in the sport, but I can't be overwhelmed by his accomplishments in the RHF.
I hope you are not at this board by accident. Otherwise you would know the names of Radulov, Kovalchuk, Syomin...
And then there are Buchnevich, Gusev, Paigin who should be there too instead of Znarok's selection of Lyubimovs and Telegins.
I could give you even more names, but I guess it would be too revolutionary to consider with the roster we have now.
Really hope that Panarin is fine and will be able to continue the tournament.
Actually I was much positive after the loss against CZE than after today's win.
D is so soft, particularly Yemelin, Voynov and Antipin. Shipachyov is good at offense, but looked like a total liability in defensive zone. Dadonov with two offensive zone penalties.Shirokov is as usual.
Mozyakin has a great shot, yes, but he overuses it a bit. Also I don't exactly understand the role of Antipin on the PP, would prefer Zaitsev there.
I still like Lyubimov though, was also positively impressed by Burmistrov and Kalinin. Zaitsev and Marchenko should be given some bigger roles.
Could somebody please let me know once there is an update on Panarin's status?
Well, the last year silver will be probably the last medal Russia earned for long time It seems.
Finland, Sweden, USA and Canada will make Russia look like amateurs.
It's premature to suggest Russia's downfall when they have still played 2 games.
While we are playing bad and led by an incompetent coach, we'll see who'll get the last laugh
Anybody has information about Panarin's injury? Will he continue playing at WC?
Who will be in roster (3 places) in case if Ovi, Kuzya, Orlov, Kulemin, Kucherov, Nesterov, Namestnikov, Tarasenko, Malkin won't be able to come?
