I apologize if I missed your point. I do see a lot of arguments being offered to play all the WJC games in Canada because they make so much money, and it seemed like they got a lot of enthusiastic crowds in Finland as well. I know Faisel would play every tournament in Canada if he had his way, because I'm sure that a large sum of that extra money that it generates makes its way into his bank account as salary and other benefits. I'm just arguing for the continuing rotation of host countries to even up the playing field.

I am definitely in favor of rotation, would be nice to see Kazakhstan host its first WHC now that they have two large and modern hockey arenas. But I suppose this has little to do with the topic of this thread.

Blues are going very deep. Tarasenko is unlikely. Tampa Bay will advance to round 3 most likely so Kucherov will join for gold medal or semi-final. Adding players late is not always the best idea.

Washington will end soon, Ovechkin, Kuznetsov and Orlov are kinda questionable addition for NT.

Ovechkin always underperforms in NT.
Kuznetsov can`t play **** without good support.
Maybe Orlov could help Russia`s pathetic defense.

I hope Russia has made room for Ovechkin and Kuznetsov.

Looks like the Caps will (surprise!) fail to get past the second round again.

I definitely agree!

True (and consistent with what I was saying), but the lower budget teams bottom out lower because they don't have the infusion of prospects just as the higher budget teams can go higher. The example I offered was Riga. They have a few imports, AHL level players. Then they have mostly native players, and while they pull from the best Latvians, an AHL teams receives the best prospects from all around the world, draft picks and pro contract players. They probably aren't the level of a bottom-feeding AHL team. A top KHL team though with a few NHL level players already has more NHL level players than an AHL team would have, as well as a better selection of pros, from all Russia and not just a section of Russia or a small country around Russia.

I think you put it in the right perspective. I fully agree.

Looks like 7 roster spots are left open for NHL-ers and Radulov: one of those will be a goalie and at least one I guess will be for D. So I guess Znarok hopes to survive "on a wing and prayer" with three lines Vs. Czechs, after that the calendar should be a bit easier though. Latest possible date for NHL playoff games is 12-th of May (it will be already 13-th of May in Russia), before that date we will have to play also Kazakhstan, Denmark and Latvia.

Power play? SKA unit and Datsyuk's unit?

I could care less about the NHL, so when it comes to the Stanley Cup, I want the team that has the most good Russians to lose (sorry, Capitals fans). From everything that I have read, seen and heard, no one in the NHL works harder or fights with more intensity than Ovechkin, so I hate to see his hard efforts go for nothing. But on the other hand, if the Penguins win, Russia gets Ovechkin, Kuznetsov and Orlov (Orlov may be more valuable than the other 2). If the Capitals win, Russia only gets Malkin. Not even close - Go, Penguins, Go.

the charter has already been ordered, the plane is fueled and on the tarmac waiting for passengers.

You are so right. As long as Mr Ovi thinks Mother Russia is more important than Mr Stanley, they will never even get close to a semifinal in playoffs.

It could be VERY difficult to play using just 3 lines for several games in a row. The team will be exhausted before quarterfinal. Fresh Ovechkin and Kuznetsov will not be helpful for an exhausted team.

It's Lord Stanley.

Wish Ovi could hoist Lord Stanley's Cup. Many players, from all nationalities have said that was their proudest hockey moment. It takes 16 wins against the best players in the world to be able to hoist the most beautiful trophy in sports.

If the Capitals lose, Ovechkin will be on the first flight over. Respect. I'll never knock the guy for taking pride in representing his country, he always answers the call no matter what.

I can see how Russian players and fans view the World Championship and Olympics as the highest honour playing for Russia. My favourite hockey will always be International Hockey. I've always admired the Russian players willingness to represent their country whenever they can.

Russia will always be Canadas biggest rivalry in hockey. But through that rivalry, I respect Russia as our best competition.

I don't know if Russian's feel the same about Canadian teams, but when I see Russia play against any other team, mens or WJC, I can't help but watch and admire our #1 rival.

Glad this tournament is on Russian soil, I know you will be excellent hosts and appreciate the beauty of our game. Best of luck and see you for Gold .

Let's enjoy our game. St. Petersburg is beautiful by the way.

Telegin and Belov added to the roster.

Also Datsyuk is named as captain, Mozyakin and Shipachyov are alternates.

Sorry I missed I tried quick search function but did not see anything, is Radulov cut then? Also I much rather wanted Golishev/Shalunov than a guy like Telegin, no offense to him.

I think defense will be ok, don't know why everyone is complaining, give it a chance. Not liking Belov that much. What about a guy like Menshikov?

Can't believe that is our roster for the home tournament

Who did you expect to come ??
Kovalchuk and Radulov ?

You must really enjoy goals in your own net though...

They both have "I'm pro star so I don`t even need to defend nor skating back to own zone to help" syndrome.

Worthless players.

Guys like Gusev, Zaripov, Grigorenko. There is are whole host of better guys. Instead we get Znorok's grinders.

I don't mind Kalinin, he's useful; but Burmistrov, Telegin, Plotnikov, Lyubimov? WTF? Im amazed Kokarev, Kablukov, Soin didn't also get an invite.:sarcasm::speechles

Zaripov, Grigorenko, Zaripov, Soin...

What NT future have 35 year old players ? You definitely don`t want to always count on them. Anyway all you mentioned were there in 2013 and what happened ?

Complete disaster.

Simply if you don`t keep working with young perspective players, there is no hope for Russia and overall for whole European hockey.
