You had most of ur OG team / top guns last year and got clobbered by a very good Canadian B team...What makes u think U24 Russians would fare any better vs. our Best Young Gunz? They wouldn't...

I'll admit that it is embarrassing to lose to a garbage C Team like Canada brought to the Worlds last year. Personally, I think that Sidney Crosby is a pretty good hockey player, but I agree with you that the rest of the team was garbage, and so it is very humiliating to lose to a team like that! You had to rub it in, didn't you?

c? i heard their d team is atrocious, hot garbage they are. but c while being mediocre can beat any team on their lucky day...

I agree. Canada was the luckiest team I ever saw last year. They couldn't skate from one side of the rink to the other, and yet through the most amazing luck, they stumbled into a victory.

A few years ago, the above quote wouldn't be sarcasm but Russian fans' true opinion of Team Canada. At least now you guys give us some credit.

Every elite hockey country had their B team, not just Canada, and that Canadian "B team" could have been an A team so much it was GOOD. I rarely see so many good players playing for Canada at the World Championships.

Do they have a spot open for Tarasenko if the Blues loose to Stars tonight?

If the Blues advance Nichuskin will be available, but I guess he isnt a improvement for Russia.

...
Actually not sure

Russia had 11 forwards and 7 defenders on the roster before the caps trio - so one more slot remains?

yak said znarok lied about his injury and he's actually ready to play in the wc. znarok is such a hypocrite, love it.

What the hell... ? Russia is such a mess sometimes, I hope they'll get spanked by Canada once again, and now on the home ice, looking forward to it.

Maybe the coaching staff lied because they want him to save face in the hockey world. Because when you look @ the team right now, there is only one player who shouldn't be on this team, Plotnikov.

Russia had 5 spots available on the opening day
Kulemin (injured or not, coming or not)?
Ovechkin
Kuznetsov
Orlov
3rd goalie/Tarasenko?

Radulov?

With Ovie, Kuz, Orlov, there is only 1 spot for skater. Radulov / Tarasenko / Kulemin. It will be interesting.

Yeap, perhaps..

Or they wanted to save their face, if the team fails, so no one would talk about why they didn't take Yak, when 3rd and 4th line were useless passengers.

I was responding to a Russian poster saying I didn't know anything about Russia's U24's - after predicting that our Young Gunz would handle them easily. Our team last year was very very good, and u could make the argument that a few more of them belonged in Sochi. BUT that doesn't change the fact that a Russian A-minus team, with so many of their Sochi contingent, got totally destroyed and outshot ( from memory ) by whopping 37-12! They weren't competitive at all, and I was using that FACT to support the argument that best vs best, A team vs A team --- even at the U24 level --- team Russia simply doesn't measure up...

The proof IS in the pudding, as they say...

Having said all that, your team this year , with their reinforcements, looks like the BEST team on paper. However, if IF our green D gets to add Burns, I like Team Maple Leaf's chances against ANYONE!

CHEERS RUSSIANS

No way that Kulemin is on the same level as Radulov and Tarasenko. Its like choosing between Ovechkin, Malkin, and Plotnikov.

With one notable exception...It was practically the Russian OG team ( albeit not very competitive ) that team Canada met in last years gold game

No, that's not what I wanted to say. Of course, he's not. But maybe Radulov is still injured and not able to play on WHC, and maybe St. Louis will advance to WCF, then it would potentially leave them to Kulemin (if he's healthy). That was meaning of my post. Not comparing them or ranking them as similar players.
