It will be interesting to see what happens with the defense.

Who moves where with Ellis coming in.

simple imo

Rielly Tanev
Murray Ellis
Matheson Ceci

Hutton or Dumba to the pressbox

I'm not sure why you would break up by far the best pairing... not saying it won't happen but IMO Murray-Ceci has been by far the best pair all-around this tournament. Peters has relied on them quite a bit.

I guess if you want to spread around their good play as much as you can. They can still pair up on the PK.

likely Hutton comes out and Dumba moves to 7. doubt ellis is coming just to come out when the team goes on the powerplay.

Too bad for Hutton. he is a better defenseman than he was ever given a chance to show in this tournament.

else maybe they roll 12 forwards and 8 defensemen?

Was hoping Weber could make it.

What will the lines look like? I'd imagine Hutton comes out. Probably something like this.

Rielly Tanev
Murray Ceci
Mattheson Ellis
Dumba

a few things...

make additions and they better be at least semi-significant additions and not 21 year old 1st timers looking to get in reps for that NHL preseason September exhibition tournament. John Tavares and Ryan Ellis I would classify as 1 significant addition and 1 semi-significant addition.

Peters said today that it is possible Canada will make additions today.

Get Duchene off the right side. On international ice he plays center and if not center, LW.

Move Brassard to the 4th line because that is all he is...a 4th liner on Canada B-team. and putting him on the B team is paying him a compliment. I never thought I'd be saying this, but Jesus H Christ I sure hope Scheifele gets over his travelers' diarrhea soon.

Smack McDavid upside the head and tell him it's time to play some hockey.

that 4th liner on the B team is leading Canada in scoring and is 2nd overall in the whole tournament in scoring...

Well I was wrong about no one coming. Ellis fits one need for this team (get Dumba off the ice) but obviously doesn't fill the bigger need (legitimate top defenceman). Good for him to show up for Canada after two seven game series though. This obviously relegates Hutton to the press box and puts Dumba as the seventh defenceman.

and to that I respond with a ya, so what!!! big deal. As I had to point out to a few others yesterday, Viktor Tikhonov and Sergei Plotnikov finished 1 and 3 in tournament scoring in 2014. Leading this tournament in scoring means absolutely squat....less than squat actually. it doesn't change where Brassard ranks on the center depth chart in various versions of Team Canada for international tournaments. And that's pretty far down the list. and imo there are better centers on this particular version of Team Canada than Brassard. But coach Peters sees things differently. So, I hope Brassard keeps it up and racks up more goals + points winning the tournament scoring race and bringing home a Gold Medal for his trophy case. I'm all for that...but that still wouldn't change my opinion of him and where I have him ranked as a center.

The team has been playing well so far. I like how the forwards can score so quickly and finish their chances when they get one. There was times in the Slovakia game where it was going back and fourth with Slovakia, but Canada gets a good quality chance and boom Duchene puts it in top corner off a forecheck.

Defence has been good, get the puck and move it forward. They kept it simple, all players that are mobile and have good size. Ellis will be a good addition for the PP.

This team isn't as dominant as the one last year, but I feel the coaching and teaching of a system was a lot more emphasized on than last year where it was run and gun hockey for majority of the time.

I've heard from a well known source, when the topic of how weak the top scorer of the 2014 tournament is, that Tikhonov has more talent in his pinky finger than most NHLers could ever dream of!

The selection and use of defencemen by Canada has been the biggest change in Hockey Canada's strategy at this tournament. No Brenden Dillon types this year, and the team moves through the neutral zone in unison with defencemen capable of rushing it themselves or making the quick pass to forwards.

I hope its not Matheson that gets bumped

Any news as who gets bumped?
