I do not see anything shameful if Russia loses US.
American Hockey stronger with every year.

Thanks.

It's unlikely Russia loses to the Americans, and highly unlikely we lose to Switzerland. But anything can happen I guess.

IMO you shouldn't be so incompetent as to be almost laughable, attaching importance to round robin games. E.g. a competitive Team Canada that many spoke of as future World champions in 2013 went down in the QF to Sweden, reinforced a coupla days earlier by the Sedin brothers, LOST THE QF because of Alex Edler's knee-on-knee against Canada captain, Eric Staal.

It hurts to admit the fact that Canada is twice better than Russia on every hockey level. Right?

Anyway...

Canada should add someone, there's nothing wrong about rolling youngsters like Domi / Reinhart as 13/14th forward or Hutton / Matheson as 7th/8th defenceman. They already played handful of games so good for them.

Canada should add some depth to this team, Marchand has been laboring with injury through some practices, Scheifele is out now (flu or something).

I am confident that Canada will make the addition. Can't wait to found out.

Terrible first 2 periods versus Germany.

Hopefully this was a turning point game and McDavid gives himself permission to drive the play and take over games.

97 looked to get that confidence we've all seen when he gets going during the 3rd. More of this please.

USA has a horrible team this year, just like pretty much every year. I do wonder though if Russian fans are aware that the teams at this tournament say next to nothing about the hockey level in various countries.

Does Peters keep rotating his goalies or go back to Talbot? Need Talbot in there against Finland. I say start him Saturday, Pickard against France and then Talbot in the final round robin game against the Fins.

Why McDavid doesn't have more points?

I've heard he plays well.

5 points in 4 games. It's still early, there's six more games to go.

If he plays like he did in the 3rd period against Germany and decides to give himself permission to just take over a game, the points will come.

I was laughing during this game, the boys looked a little hung over out there.

I'd actually advise McDavid to go back to that very same bar and check lost and found, because I think he forgot his game there.

These guys! I'd give them a smack upside the head...

I'll have fun for the next day making McDavid tweeting party pics jokes.

oh and what was it you said, relax, 2 days before the game...they need to relax, have fun, team bonding. Ya, that worked big time.

It did work, they won 5-2. Pretty hard to get mentally up for a game against Germany when they all bring their worst game and they still easily win. People forget that the ultimate team last year barely beat France.

Happens to the best of them.

Man, I really liked that young yankee squad last year. Knocked off Russians in round robin, almost buried them over first forty minutes in semi final...Never seen so many forwards all alone in front of Russian goal...Very opportunistic and hungry team! Bobrovsky saved Russia's bacon

Kids like Vesey, Jones, Eichel, Larkin...Helle ( hell I can't spell that guys name ?) in goal + Campbell...

WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE???

***
Sadly this years Yankee squad doesn't measure up. They probably do meet Russia in QF's. BUT without any quality additions, I give team USA precious little chance...

If McDavid was out on the town then Hall was definitly with him. Hall got player of the game so I'm not sure why you're losing sleep over this.

For these young guys it's basically a stepping stone to show team canada you support their program so they will consider you for the big team (Olympics or World cup in this case). If you're young and bail on this tournament odds are you wont be considered for the big team. Who cares if they are having fun as long as they are winning. It's good to see that these guys are human. I for one don't really care about the results of this tournament since it's not even close to best on best

We owe it to the hockey world and European fans to bring our best game with whoever is there. Wearing the Canadian jersey and representing your country is a great honour with high expectations.

Go win the the tournament, book an extra couple days in St. Petersburg and party your faces off as champions. Save it until the end as the toast of the town.

With Nashville out there are two Dmen we could add who are worth making room for: Weber and Ellis.

Weber is a long shot. Ellis might answer the bell and come over. He's worth adding and making space for on D. He'll replace Dumba.

We're set at forward and don't need to add anyone. But adding one more D would be nice and Ellis would be a perfect addition.

I think that Weber did not go to the World Championship.
I do not see any motivation for him

I agree. Almost no chance Weber comes.

Ellis might come and he would be a welcome final addition. Dumba needs to be watching from here on in from the stands. He's a major liability out there and a weak link in our otherwise fairly strong young D.

We don't need to add any forwards, we're set up front. Our forward group is very strong and there's no reason to mess with it by adding players and sitting one of Domi/Reinhart. Those kids are playing well when they get on the ice. Domi looks like he's flying out there every shift.

You can't include UFA players among the candidates. Holtby, Tavares, Benn, Weber are also highly unlikely because they are already on the World Cup team.
