Maybe because he's a 19 year old kid out having fun with his buddies...?

You complain when players don't go, and then complain about them having a good time and enjoying the experience when they do go?

I think I made my opinion on the matter abundantly clear. I suggest you scroll back and read it. He can do whatever the hell he wants. and if that's being at the bar at 2AM, then fine, but keep it off social media. I don't want to see it. If he can't keep it off social media, then it's open for discussion.

What do you care if he's out having a beer and posts it to social media? 99% of our culture does the exact same.

99.999999999% of them are not on an all expense paid trip representing Canada to play hockey games in an attempt to win a tournament. I'll repeat it again since you didn't seem to grasp it the first time, I don't think it's appropriate material for social media under those conditions. When the tournament is over and he is travelling on his own time and on his own dime, then it becomes none of my business. i.e. When Connor McDavid is just being Connor McDavid private citizen, not Connor McDavid - Team Canada player, he can do and post whatever the hell he wants. Drink himself into a stupor for all I care, but until then, when there's still a tournament to be played, keep it off social media.

Proof that if you're looking for a reason to be offended you're gonna find it.

having an opinion does not = taking offense.

I don't think that a pic at 2AM in a bar is a "shareable moment" under those circumstances. If he wants to post a pic in July at the local watering hole in Muskoka, then have at it.

and the tweets and stories of Max Domi and his interaction with a 4 year old Russian boy living with diabetes is Mr. Writer approved social media content.

They don't even have a game today and he's the best player in the world. Who cares? I'd be worried if we saw this from him during the season out with Hall and Ebs. The guy is a complete professional off and on the ice, but he's not a robot.

I'm fine with the boys going out and having a good time when they don't have a game the next day. Some relaxing and bonding over drinks is fine with me, it'll help build camaraderie.

Just don't be out late drinking the night before a game. Stay focused and win this tournament, we brought a good team to this tournament.

If they want to kick back for a few extra days after winning the Gold and party their faces off, until all hours of the night, then go for it! But win the tournament first.

Dreger said on TSN today that it is "likely" that Hockey Canada would reach out to Burns if San Jose loses game seven. They also might reach out to Ellis if Nashville is the losing team apparently. I'm a bit skeptical though... Dreger isn't the most reliable, and history says that Hockey Canada simply doesn't do that. Either player would be helpful, as Burns is elite and Ellis could simply take all of Dumba's minutes, but Hockey Canada isn't going to go all out for the World Championships.

They are in Russia. This isn't the Olympics where players focus on one task. You enjoy yourself, and play Hockey. Who cares if he posts pis of them drinking every night. Let them have fun. They're pro's , they show up for each game, there's rally no issue here.

Was his pictuce from the night when entire team Canada was partying or from another night? If it is another one, its quite too much ;) Building team chemistry is important but partying every second day :) I would be curious what coach told him:)

You are the reason the NHL is full of robots with canned answers. I would rather know the real player, not the PR rep approved player.

It was from Monday night (technically early Tuesday morning in Russia). I would be shocked if the coach said anything. Likely one of his handlers told him to delete it. Not a big deal, just funny to see him delete it.

Sounds like much ado about nothing. Be different if there was a game the next day. These guys are people too, let them have lives.

This is the day and age we live in, my friend. I'm happy to see these guys go out, bond as teammates, and have a good time (within reason, of course....they are representing our country). I don't see a problem here.

McD: Let's tip our glasses to Team Bonding...

Unknown Team Mate: Sure I'll drink to that...

Holier than thou Canuck Chorus: Bring home Gold and ALL is forgiven...

So two nights partying?:) They must be sure to win it. I know weaker opponents etc. Still I can not imagine Pastrnak drinking up there so much. We would probably loose to Norway. I just hope we do that staff prior to WHC....:)

Well, either McDavid or somebody at Hockey Canada agrees with me, b/c it was quickly deleted. So, nothing wrong with team bonding, but we don't need to be in every second of it.

Actually 99.999999999% of 35,000000 Canadians means that exactly 0 Canadians are over there playing hockey. :) ;)

Seriously, having a drink or 2 or 5 isn't going to affect a young healthy person for a game 2 days later.

It probably has less to do with agreeing with you than it does trying to avoid the same narrative you're spewing.

Meh. Very hard to avoid social media these days.

Keep up old man.

Don't see how Finland isn't considered the favorite going into their game with Canada.

1.Tournaments in Europe
2,Big ice
3.More team prep time
4.Home crowd fan advantage
5. Comparable on ice talent

Way more things in their favor.

Canada should be viewed as the at least slight underdog here.

Not comparable talent at all. Canada's forwards are so much better the D cores and goaltending dont even matter. Even though Canada is stronger in both those aspects as well.

One positive about this team is the defensive ability of the forwards. The defence is inexcusably weak for Canada, but there are very good defensive forwards to cover for them. O'Reilly, Stone and Marchand are elite in this respect. Reinhart and Jenner are good defensively as well. Most of the other forwards are competent. I don't recall a Canadian team at this tournament with better two way forwards other than possibly the team from last year.

I think it's fairly comparable, Finland has good players that can move the puck and put it in up front.

Don't underestimate them.

Agreed. Our forwards are outstanding for this tournament. In my view, they are by far the deepest and best group at this tournament.

I'm excited to see how Laine keeps up with them. You've got to think 97 and those other guys have heard the hype and chatter, hopefully it keeps them motivated and provides an extra chip on their shoulder.
