Ellis or Hamonic are the only realistic adds. It would be nice if we got one of them, but I'm not expecting any more adds.

a few things...

make additions and they better be at least semi-significant additions and not 21 year old 1st timers looking to get in reps for that NHL preseason September exhibition tournament. John Tavares and Ryan Ellis I would classify as 1 significant addition and 1 semi-significant addition.

Peters said today that it is possible Canada will make additions today.

Get Duchene off the right side. On international ice he plays center and if not center, LW.

Move Brassard to the 4th line because that is all he is...a 4th liner on Canada B-team. and putting him on the B team is paying him a compliment. I never thought I'd be saying this, but Jesus H Christ I sure hope Scheifele gets over his travelers' diarrhea soon.

Smack McDavid upside the head and tell him it's time to play some hockey.

There were some lofty expectations put on him. He's played very unselfish so far. Almost too unselfish.

It's time for 97 to give himself permission to take over. Play pissed off and focused, we finally saw that in the 3rd period against Germany.

He's such a humble kid he's deferred to his teammates out of respect, he's done this before throughout his career. Once he earns the respect of his teammates he'll give himself permission to take over.

I hope 97 starts driving the play more and plays pissed off with something to prove. We've seen plenty of glimpses of it so far. Time to show the hockey world who the most talented player at this tournament is.

Mcdavid's time to be the best well come, this is his 1st World Championships, give him time to get used to it.

Anyine who's been watching the games can Comme t on how matheson has been playong? I haven't even caught a single game yet so any input would be good Thanks

Matheson has looked really good, he's made a couple mistakes but overall I've been impressed. He's an excellent skater and it shows on the big ice.

How's his positioning been and defensive coverage? It's a concern moving forward if hes going to be a top4 d man in nhl

He had a bad turnover in the offensive zone last game that directly led to a German goal. However, overall he's looked good. Definitely top 4 upside.

The biggest positive thing for Matheson, like all of our D, is they are excellent skaters.

Terrible first 2 periods versus Germany.

Hopefully this was a turning point game and McDavid gives himself permission to drive the play and take over games.

97 looked to get that confidence we've all seen when he gets going during the 3rd. More of this please.

He's quietly gone about his business (and he's just warming up, IMO) with all the Matthews talk and "hype" by the east media. They keep grasping at straws with that kid which is fine and I understand why. It has taken away from the spotlight of McDavid.

Completely agree. If the 3rd period against Germany was any indication, we finally saw McDavid having the confidence to take over a game. I think he is on the cusp of having a breakout game at this tournament.

Let's go 97, time to show the European audience why everyone who sees you play often has no doubt that you are the most talented player in the world.

Play focused and angry with something to prove every shift. Leave no doubt who the best player is.

So, no additions? Typical.

Hockey Canada: "We'd like to consider making additions once all 2nd. rd. series are in the books.

2nd. rd. is finished, HC brass huddles around morning coffee in the hotel lobby, the answer they come up with, it's too late for additions at this point. By the time we get anybody over and in the lineup there's likely only 1 game remaining before the elimination game anyway, so no point. Let's just play the 1/4 final and go home.

Just typical Hockey Canada BS.

Maybe allavailable canadian players refused to go to the IIHF WordСhumps?

I really doubt they asked. I don't believe that Hockey Canada has ever asked someone after the second round, and given that the team this year has been successful thus far I can't imagine that they broke with tradition.

We need to get into Laines head when we play the Finns.

Why? These players all have experience playing against players who are (for now) much better than Laine.

We need to bring intensity against the Finns.

They have solid forwards up front, but we need to test their D. Heavy, relentless forecheck. We need to break the Finns D to win. The boys better come hard and focused today against the Slovaks and build for the showdown with the Finns.

Just get better everyday. Worry about ourselves and play our game against the Slovaks. Stay focused against the French. And then come ready to battle and play the Canadian way against the Finns.

Start building for the knockout rounds now. Every game matters.

Yeah but the tournament started late this year so there is absolutely no problem to add player from 2nd round of play-offs, all teams do it this time, because there is still a lot of time left before the play-offs.

Canada really should add someone (defenseman). The team is succesful so far but the biggest test in the group stage is still ahead of them, and defense showed that there could be some problems against top countries.

It was really good opportunity to strength their defense and looks like they missed it. Even Ryan Ellis could do wonders for this group.

As I said there is nothing wrong about having Hutton or Matheson as 7th/8th defenseman, for example.

I'm fine going with the D we got. They've played overall. It's not like any of the other countries are any better on D.

They are saying on the Swedish thread that Klingberg is a no go.

I don't think Ekholm and Larsson alone make their defense that formidable.

Yeah I'm happy with our D overall. Dumba isn't very good but the other guys have played well.

Tanev, Reilly, Murray, Ceci, Matheson are all excellent skaters. We can win with these guys.
