I hope its not Matheson that gets bumped

Any news as who gets bumped?

Matheson took a regular shift in the last game and Hutton didn't play at all. Have to think that Hutton is the one in the press box. Also, given similar roles and handedness, I think that Dumba is the one who will lose most of his ice time to Ellis.

I've heard from a well known source, when the topic of how weak the top scorer of the 2014 tournament is, that Tikhonov has more talent in his pinky finger than most NHLers could ever dream of!

The selection and use of defencemen by Canada has been the biggest change in Hockey Canada's strategy at this tournament. No Brenden Dillon types this year, and the team moves through the neutral zone in unison with defencemen capable of rushing it themselves or making the quick pass to forwards.

and were you able to respond or did you fall off your chair and roll around on the floor in fits of hysterical laughter at the ridiculous comment?

I like the addition of Ellis. I would have preferred he come with an A-Team elite level forward, (Tavares) but it wasn't meant to be... c'est la vie! maybe next year.

This was the best banter I have heard here in days.

you think I made the original comment re: Tikhonov? I most assuredly did not. But I have a pretty good idea who did...

and it's translator of Russian (among 1 of my languages) not Russian translator. but that's really not what I do either...but ok.

I ignored the claim, it's from a dear friend of ours though. THat was his most memorable claim about the 2014 tournament. His most memorable claim last year was that at least 60% of the next Canadian best on best team would be comprised of palyers from the 2015 World Championship team.

If Tavares and Spezza want to come they should be allowed to, you make room for guys like them.

The most likely situation is that Hockey Canada never bothered asking. If Tavares called them and asked, like Crosby last year or Spezza a few years ago, I suspect that they would have taken him.

I'm not from Mabou (I'm not a Rankin) but I am from relatively nearby. I'm a little curious about how you guessed so close actually.

surprise surprise. I guessed correctly.

Hall-McDavid-Perry

This should be interesting.

People are crapping on McDavid but Marchand can't finish his passes and Duchene was always a bad fit on his wing.

McDavid has been fine. The issue is that some people expected him to dominate.

It was a big snipes ( and a bit mr Writer on a smaller scale) hype job.

Let's be realistic here, not everyone is a 19 year old Crosby.

Yeah it's because I've seen him play a lot and take over games, at all levels he's played at. Plus Canada is rolling 4 lines, it's not like he's getting crazy minutes.

I'll admit it was lofty expectations. Probably unnecessary to put those expectations on a 19 year old at a Mens tournament. However, he could have easily 3-5 more points at this point if some of the guys buried more of his setups.

All in all he's been fine, needs to shoot the puck more though. But yeah, perhaps expectations should have been tempered. That's my bad.

I agree.

May I ask you if you in posession of Edmonton Oiler season tickets?

I don't like that Peters changed the lines. Brassard was a good fit with Hall and Perry, and I liked Marchand with McDavid. No need to change things, just let them develop.

No.

I refuse to pay top dollar to watch sub par product.

Let's see what Chiarelli does this offseason.

It's been painful. Our fans care about our team so much and have stuck by loyally only to be crushed year after year. I have faith in Chia though.

Should be interesting to see McDavid and Hall play together next game, they've shown lots of chemistry the limited times they've been on the ice together at this tournament.

Ellis will be a nice addition going forward on the PP for us. When Dumba was in the QB role on our PP :help:.

Let's get this straight here, because I've seen both McDavid and Crosby at the same ages, from 14-18, Connor McDavid is a more a more talented and skilled player than is Crosby. Sid plays a power skilled game with a big rump and Connor is all speed and finesse. Connor's biggest shortcoming at the moment is he lacks a little of Sid's dogged determination. With a little more of that he could very well be leading this tournament in scoring...but as was pointed out in earlier posts, leading this tournament in scoring and $4.85 may or may not be enough to get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks...depending on where you are....
