His scouting reports and attributes do remind me of the things that were said about Hickey. He was projected as a late 1st, so the Kings probably are quite pleased to have Clague drop to them without having to move up.

While I hate quoting myself... case in point about DeAngelo being traded for another pick just a couple years after he was drafted. He was originally drafted at #19, and he was traded for the 37th.

I remembered your post as soon as I saw the trade.

MOAR DEFENSE!

Don't know why Tampa would trade Deangelo…he's a very good prospect.

It's not an issue of talent. But he has faced discipline by coaches multiple times (and it was even before he was drafted), and one of those incidents involves harassing a teammate.

Granted, this is when he was younger, but trading him away two years later for a 2nd rounder when he was drafted in the first suggests there's some problem still.

Was praying for Cam Dineen, pissed that he's a Coyote. But Kale Clague falling all the way to us was unexpected, pretty darn happy with that pick.

And the Blackhawks getting Debrincat..wow

The Coyotes are going to be fun to watch with all their young talent. Too bad the rookie games are in Arizona this year.

“I like the physical play and some teams don't like that. Not a lot of guys will like being hit so sometimes, if it's the right guy, who knows what will happen?”

The six-foot-two, 185-pound Bowmanville native's physical play is something coach Ryan McGill wants to see.

“He's shown that he can add a physical element to his game which is huge because you want to have that reputation to gain yourself some space,” McGill said.

“He can skate and he's got a big, lanky range to him with his stick defending-wise. We're going to try and round him out to be an all-round player so he can play on the penalty kill and he can play on the power play. He's got lots of skill and he just has to develop consistency like every other defenceman playing anywhere.”
