Lucic was not going to take a pay cut, I think it is plausible he was offered 6x6.
Maybe the sticking point was not getting an NMC.
At 6 million he probably could be traded as soon as next year if Vegas would not nab Brown or Gabby.
Makes total sense actually.
IF that was the contract that was actually offered, which UFAs would you guys be comfortable taking it?
what about all the reports that contract talks broke down over LA not wanting to go over 4 year term?
The $6M is believable, but I am guessing LA went max 5 years.
Really depressing the whole Lucic thing.
In terms of D, Kings have Doughty, Muzzin, Martinez, McNabb and Greene. That is 5 everyday players right there. Then you have Scuderi, Forbort and Gravel battling for spots 6 and 7. I don't see the Kings signing another D man to a long term deal because the 5 players above aren't going anywhere soon...so that would leave one of Scuderi or Forbort on waivers and Gravel back in the AHL.
I was bored the other day and starting thinking...this was before yesterday obviously.
Kings sign Stamkos and then trade a package TT and Brown...TT and Stamkos are in the same age group, would cost kings cap sapce (i estimated 10M for stammer vs 7M for TT) and a team like a NJ/Az (tons of cap room) could take on brown to get TT
I know a lot of moving parts...but just where my mind took me...lol...was i completely out to lunch?

wasn't calling BS that the article existed, but that LA actually offered that
Hamhuis fits the mold in that he averaged 21:25 at ES, 1:23 on the PP and 2:36 on the PK. So you have that 2 way dman. The issue that scares me is he misses about 20 games a season the last 5 years. He would be an older, more fragile version of Voynov, on the ice, so it depends on the market. I have to believe many NHL teams are looking for a guy like Hamhuis, can't get in a bidding war for a 3rd defenseman.
I'd like to see the Kings make Eric Staal a short term offer. Great player, big with skill, hard working, a former Cup champion, and former captain. Staal is not in the driver's seat and can't really demand a long term deal. His camp is not expecting a long term deal. He needs to re-establish himself after a rough season. The Kings could provide Staal a great spot at 3C and some power play time. Maybe a 1 year deal for $4 million? He could fill a huge hole until Kempe is ready.
So does this mean we have a defenseman set to sign?
Would make sense, but i'm not getting my hopes up.
